Uttaran is an NGO working in Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged community people. Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.

Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Technical officer livelihood for the Fisherfolk Integration for Sustainable Habitat and Natural Ecosystem Transformation Project

Reports to: Project Manager, Uttaran

Job Responsibilities

  • As the Technical officer livelihood, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of project activities within the livelihood operation. Key responsibilities include:
  • Community Engagement and Planning
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop detailed project plans, including objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Provide necessary support to technical team to conduct the livelihood programs of the project
  • Conduct training and community meetings at ward and union levels to mobilize and engage fisherfolk.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments and beneficiary consultations to identify livelihood opportunities and challenges
  • Design sustainable and contextually relevant livelihood interventions based on the assessed needs and project goals
  • Foster strong relationships with project beneficiaries and community members, promoting their active participation and ownership in project activities.
  • Conduct regular community meetings to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure the project’s alignment with community needs.
  • Implementation and Coordination:
  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of livelihood activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with local partners, community leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Organize training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building activities to enhance beneficiaries’ skills and knowledge.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of livelihood interventions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for project management and donors, highlighting achievements and challenges.
  • Capacity Building:
  • Provide training and mentorship to project staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries to enhance their skills and knowledge related to livelihood activities.
  • Support the development of sustainable income-generating opportunities for the fisherfolk.
  • Networking and Partnerships:
  • Collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise.
  • Represent the organization in relevant forums, workshops, and meetings related to livelihood and community development.
  • Distribution and Relief Operations
  • Oversee the distribution of goods, products, and materials as per project guidelines.
  • Ensure proper monitoring, documentation, and reporting of goods and material distribution activities.
  • Support relief work during emergencies in coordination with the project team.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate and collaborate with government representatives and other key stakeholders to gain support for project activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organizations.
  • Actively participate in relief operations and ensure equitable and efficient support to affected communities.

Compensation & Other Benefits

● Employment Status: Contractual- Fixed Term Contract for 3-4 years

• Job Location: Khulna and Barishal division

Salary: 45,000 BDT to 50,000 BDT and 1 festival bonus equivalent of 1 month gross salary yearly

Compensation & other benefits: As per Uttaran’s Policy and Project Design.
