Responsibilities & Context

Job Context

Uttaran is an NGO working in Bangladesh since 1985 to uphold rights and entitlements and to improve the socio-economic condition of the poor and disadvantaged community people. Uttaran is a people-centered organization using a rights-based approach to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities and empower poor communities of Bangladesh.

Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Project Officer for the “Empowering Climate Migrants and At-Risk Communities: Enhancing Access to Public Resources, Services, and Policy Influence for Resilience Building” Project

Reports to: Project Coordinator, Uttaran

Job Responsibilities

  • As the Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of project activities within the livelihood operation. Key responsibilities include:
  • Community Engagement and Planning
  • Collaborate with project coordinator to develop detailed project plans, including objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Provide necessary support to field facilitator for group formation, landless identification, climate migrants identification and CSO formation.
  • Conduct training and community meetings at ward and union levels to mobilize and engage beneficiaries.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments and beneficiary consultations to identify field opportunities and challenges
  • Design sustainable and contextually relevant project interventions based on the assessed needs and project goals
  • Foster strong relationships with project beneficiaries and community members, promoting their active participation and ownership in project activities.
  • Conduct regular community meetings to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure the project’s alignment with community needs.

Implementation and Coordination:

  • Oversee the day-to-day implementation of activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • • Coordinate with government officials, municipality, union parishad, local partners, community leaders, and beneficiaries to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Organize training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building activities to enhance beneficiaries’ skills and knowledge.
  • Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of interventions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for project management and donors, highlighting achievements and challenges.

Capacity Building:

  • Provide training and mentorship to project staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries to enhance their skills and knowledge related to livelihood activities.
  • Support the development of sustainable income-generating opportunities

Networking and Partnerships:

  • Collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to leverage resources and expertise.
  • Represent the organization in relevant forums, workshops, and meetings related to livelihood, public private resources as well services and community development.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicate and collaborate with government representatives and other key stakeholders to gain support for project activities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, community leaders, CBOs, CSOs, media and NGOs.

  • Salary: 46,500 BDT to 50,000 BDT per month (Including Festival bonus, PF, Gratuity etc). Actual Salary is depending as per currency rate gain/loss.
