Requirements

  • Understanding of climate risks and CSA approaches for smallholder farmers. Excellent communication and facilitation skills.

Technical Skills

  • Professional writing and speaking capacity in English and Bangla
  • Proficient with MS office suite
  • Able to take decision in a timely manner, priorities and multi-task work seamlessly
  • Strong technical knowledge of CSA, GAP, and sustainable agriculture.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective training programs for farmers.

Job Summary

  • PROTTYASHI, a social development organization has been working for the development of disadvantaged population of the country since its establishment with an aim to ensure everyone to live with dignity and prosperity. PROTTYASHI reaches the community with basic needs and supports to save lives and facilitate all the people of the community to live with equal value and priority. PROTTYASHI works for the disadvantaged portion of the population in community addressing their pressing needs following the strategies contextually viable and environmentally sustainable. PROTTYASHI has been actively supporting the refugee population in the humanitarian response in Cox’s Bazar as one of the first responders since August 2017 along with the affected host and local communities in Cox’s Bazar. PROTTYASHI has been vigilantly supporting these crises affected population to accomplish its promised commitment towards humanity and people living in distress
  • To ensure improved food security and livelihood for the affected host and local communities of Cox’s Bazar helping them meet nutritional requirement in an environmentally sustainable manner, PROTTYASHI is going to implement “Livelihood” Activity of WFP Cox’s Bazar Resilience Programme in Ramu Upazila/Sub-district. PROTTYASHI invites applications for the vacant position titled- Technical Officer (CSA) for the Project and encourages the persons enthusiastic to contribute to the increased resilience of the humanitarian crisis affected host and local communities in Bangladesh. This position will be responsible for the successful implementation of the climate smart agriculture interventions of the project ensuring maximum benefit for the targeted beneficiaries.

Reporting

  • Technical Officer (CSA) will report to Project Coordinator of PROTTYASHI. S/He has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers, project teams and organization’s other priority teams. S/He must be able to communicate with other teams and units both program and operational of the organization

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct training sessions on Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for farmers, with a focus on enhancing their ability to respond to unpredictable climate conditions and improve productivity​.
  • Provide specialized guidance to lead farmers, building their capacity to serve as focal points in disseminating CSA practices within their communities.
  • Promote CSA techniques such as efficient water use, soil management, crop diversification, and agroforestry to improve resilience against flash floods, and other climate-related risks
  • Support farmers in the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices, including natural fertilizers, modern technology, and precision farming tools​
  • Regularly monitor the progress of CSA implementation in the field, ensuring farmers are applying the techniques correctly and consistently.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and hands-on support to farmers when challenges arise in the application of CSA and GAP techniques​
  • Support training initiatives on post-harvest management, including storage, transportation, and value addition, to reduce losses and increase profitability for farmers​
  • Collaborate with business development teams to help farmers link their products to value chains and improve market access.
  • Work closely with the lead farmers in the targeted Upazila, providing them with ongoing technical advice and facilitating their role as community mentors​
  • Ensure lead farmers are equipped with the latest knowledge on CSA, pest and disease management, and sustainable practices, so they can effectively transfer knowledge to other farmers.
  • Organize and facilitate capacity-building workshops for local farmers on climate forecasts, environmental data interpretation, and proactive risk management based on seasonal and climate variations​
  • Assist in the development of farmer-friendly training materials and guidelines for CSA practices.
  • Coordinate with local agricultural stakeholders, government agencies, and extension services to support the integration of CSA into local agricultural policies and practices.
  • Strengthen collaboration with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), service providers, and agricultural cooperatives to create a supportive network for CSA promotion​
  • Document the impact of CSA interventions and report on the progress of field activities.
  • Assist in preparing project reports, success stories, and lessons learned based on fieldwork and beneficiary feedback.
  • Carry out any additional tasks as needed for the project.

Compensation & Other Benefits

Salary and benefits: Monthly Gross Salary will be 56,753 BDT with contributory provident fund 2830 BDT, monthly bonus 5417 BDT and regular traveling and communication bill.
