• Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, preferably in a fleet management environment.
• Strong understanding of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical components, and braking systems.
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues and develop effective repair solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with drivers, workshop personnel, and management.
• Sound knowledge in BRTA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities & Context

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on company vehicles according to manufacturer guidelines and established schedules.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on vehicles.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments, including oil changes, brake replacements, tire rotations, and fluid level checks.
• Coordinate major repairs with external workshops, ensuring quality and timely completion.

Fleet Management:

• Allocation of transports – indoor/outdoor.
• Maintain detailed records of vehicle service history, including repair details, parts used, and maintenance costs.
• Monitor fuel consumption and identify areas for improvement.
• Track vehicle registration, insurance, and fitness certificates to ensure compliance.
• Analyze fleet data to identify trends (fuel) and make recommendations for vehicle acquisition or replacement strategies.
• Regular Renewal of documentation/license/registration on time.
• Checking the bill voucher of transports/drivers/helpers.
• Leave management.
• Hire transport on a need basis.
• Evaluation of driver’s performance and transport utilization.

Safety Compliance:

• Ensure all vehicles are in safe operating condition and comply with road safety regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and identify potential safety hazards.
• Educate drivers on proper vehicle maintenance and safe driving practices.

Budget Management:

• Prepare and manage maintenance budgets for the vehicle fleet.
• Negotiate repair costs (work request cases) with external service providers.
• Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Technical Expertise:

• Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
• Understand and interpret vehicle schematics and technical manuals.
• Evaluate new vehicle models and recommend potential purchases based on performance and operational needs.
