Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor/Honors, Masters

Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, or a related field. Postgraduate Diploma or MBA in Shipping, Port Management, or Logistics (preferred but not mandatory).

Experience

  • 5 to 7 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    Manufacturing (FMCG), Shipping, Group of Companies, Cement Industry

Additional Requirements

  • Age at least 35 years
  • Vessel Operations: Knowledge of vessel types, berthing procedures, and cargo discharge equipment (e.g., grab unloaders, hoppers, conveyors).
  • Documentation & Compliance: Familiar with draft surveys, cargo docs, INCOTERMS, NOR, Laytime, and marine insurance basics.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of HSE, ISPS, MARPOL, and port safety protocols.
  • Tech & Reporting: Skilled in MS Office; experience with ERP/TOS systems preferred.
  • Coordination & Communication: Effective communicator; capable of handling multi-stakeholder coordination.
  • Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making under pressure to reduce delays and optimize operations.
  • Leadership: Able to supervise port staff and manage duty rosters during 24/7 vessel ops.
  • Flexibility: Willing to work irregular hours and travel to ports/anchorages as required.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Mother Vessel Coordination
  • Monitor and manage the arrival, berthing, and discharge operations of mother vessels at designated ports.
  • Coordinate with port authorities, agents, stevedores, and terminals for smooth vessel handling.
  • Discharge and Cargo Handling
  • Oversee unloading operations to ensure efficient turnaround and minimal delays.
  • Understanding of vessel types, berthing procedures, cargo discharge equipment (e.g., grab unloaders, hoppers, conveyors), and handling constraints.
  • Knowledge of draft surveys, cargo documentation, and port clearance procedures.
  • Familiarity with AIS tracking, shipping terms (INCOTERMS, Laytime, NOR, etc.), and basic marine insurance clauses.
  • Compliance & Safety Awareness Strong knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) protocols at port/jetty.
  • Awareness of ISPS, MARPOL, and other maritime regulations.
