Knowledge of Statutory Requirements
A thorough understanding of the statutory requirements for credit provision programs
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills to effectively engage with community members and stakeholders.
Training and Capacity Building
Ability to develop and deliver training programs for community members and leaders.
Data Analysis and Reporting
Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting on program impact.
Project Management
Ability to plan, implements, and manage community development projects, including microcredit programs.
Other skills
Proven ability to drive a motor cycle with a valid driving license (mandatory for field travel).
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and reporting.
Understanding of microcredit operations and donor-funded projects.Proficiency both in English and Bengali.
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
Preferred:
Experince working with rural/low-income communities.
Knowledge of participatory tools (PRA, RRA) and data analysis software (e.g KOBO Toolbox)

Responsibilities & Context
Job Summary
Symbiosis Foundation seeks A Community Development Officer with microcredit /microfinance experience who would be responsible for fostering economic empowerment and community development, particularly through the provision and management of microfinance programs and community development initiatives. This role shall involve identifying community needs, developing and implementing microcredit programs, monitoring their impact and ensuring sustainable community growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement and Needs Assessment
Conducting community assessments to understand local needs, priorities, and potential for microcredit programs or alternative legally and socially acceptable credit provision programs.
Engaging with community members, leaders, and local stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.
Promoting community participation in community development program planning and implementation in line with the history of any pre-existing savings program.
Microcredit Program Development and Management
- Developing and implementing microcredit programs that meet the specific needs of the community.
- Managing the microcredit program’s daily operations, including loan disbursement, repayment monitoring, and client support.
- Ensuring that microcredit programs are sustainable and financially responsible.
Capacity Building and Training
- Providing training and support to community members on financial literacy, business management, and microcredit program guidelines.
- Supporting the development of local capacity for managing microcredit programs in the future.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Regularly monitoring the impact of microcredit programs on community development.
- Collecting data on loan performance, repayment rates, and economic development indicators.
- Evaluating the overall effectiveness of the microcredit program and making necessary adjustments.
Collaboration and Networking
- Collaborating with other community development workers, government agencies, and partner organizations.
- Building relationships with local leaders and stakeholders to foster community support for microcredit programs.
- Networking with other microfinance institutions to share best practices and learn from their experiences.
