Willingness to travel to project locations as required
Preferred: Experience working with illiterate poor and marginalizes communities.
Work Conditions: Extensive field travel -must be willing to visit remote areas. Flexible hours to accommodate community meetings and emergencies.

Responsibilities & Context
Job Summary
Literacy and Adult Education Officer shall oversee programs aimed at improving literacy and providing educational opportunities for adults, often in rural areas. He is to work with local communities, schools, and government officials to implement literacy initiatives, develop training materials, and monitor program effectiveness. This officer also shall play a crucial role in capacity building, teacher training, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Management: Developing and implementing literacy programs, ensuring adherence to program design, and adapting strategies to meet local needs.
Training and Capacity Building: Conducting training for teachers, government officials, and community members to enhance literacy skills and reading habits.
Community Engagement: Working with school authorities, communities, and other stakeholders to create a literate environment and foster a love of reading.
Technical Support: Providing technical guidance and resources to schools and teachers on literacy skills, teaching methods, and library management.
Monitoring and Evaluation: Tracking program progress, assessing student performance, and recommending program improvements.
Resource Development: Creating and adapting training modules, assessment tools, and supplementary materials for literacy instruction.
Coordination and Collaboration: Working closely with other program officers, local partners, and government agencies to ensure effective program delivery and coordination.
Research and Documentation: Conducting research on best practices in literacy and adult education and documenting program experiences and outcomes.
