Responsibilities & Context

Position Overview

We are seeking a results-driven and technically proficient Senior Engineer to join our Planning and Implementation team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, deployment, and optimization of high-performance, scalable, and secure network infrastructures for enterprise and data center environments. This role demands hands-on expertise in routing, switching, network security, and automation, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

Network Design & Architecture:·

  • Develop, document, and implement scalable and resilient network architectures for enterprise and data center environments.·
  • Design topologies that support high availability, redundancy, and optimal performance.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate hardware and technologies aligned with organizational needs.

Routing & Switching:·

  • Configure and maintain routers and switches with advanced routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.·
  • Deploy Layer 2/3 network configurations including VLANs, STP, VXLAN, and EVPN.
  • Optimize routing paths and ensure seamless connectivity across distributed network segments.

Security & Compliance:   

  • Design and enforce network security standards, including firewall rules, access control lists (ACLs), and VPN configurations.·
  • Implement DDoS mitigation strategies and intrusion prevention mechanisms.·
  • Conduct regular network audits to ensure adherence to security policies and regulatory requirements.

Troubleshooting & Support:

  • Serve as a senior point of escalation for complex network incidents.
  • Analyze root causes of issues and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurrence.·
  • Monitor network health and proactively resolve performance degradation.

Capacity Planning:·

  • Continuously monitor bandwidth utilization and network traffic patterns.·
  • Forecast future network needs based on business growth and usage trends.
  • Recommend and implement capacity upgrades as needed.

Automation & Scripting:·

  • Develop automation scripts and workflows using tools like Python, Ansible, or equivalent.·
  • Automate repetitive tasks including configuration deployment, backup, and reporting.·
  • Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices within network operations.

Collaboration & Documentation:·

  • Work closely with system, cloud, and DevOps teams to align network functionality with organizational goals.·
  • Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, configuration repositories, and SOPs.
  • Document all changes, incidents, and design decisions clearly for team visibility and continuity.

Vendor & ISP Management:

  • Coordinate with service providers, ISPs, and hardware vendors for procurement, support, and escalations.·
  • Evaluate vendor performance and manage SLAs to ensure timely resolution of issues.·
  • Participate in product evaluations and contribute to vendor selection.

Incident Response & On-call Support:·

  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical network issues.·
  • Lead incident response during network outages or security breaches.
  • Post-incident, conduct impact analysis and prepare reports outlining root cause and preventive measures.

Key Skills & Expertise

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in configuring and maintaining Mikrotik, Cisco devices, and firewalls.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols, routing, and tunneling (e.g., OSPF, BGP, VPNs).
  • Hands-on experience with Network Monitoring Systems (NMS).
  • Expertise in Windows and Linux operating systems, including installation and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with bandwidth monitoring and performance optimization tools.

  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Proficiency in using ticketing systems for task management and issue resolution.

Analytical & Organizational Skills

  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills to document and maintain system records.
  • Capability to create and present performance reports.
