This role provides a unique opportunity for a community-driven individual to contribute directly to climate resilience and food security within their community. The Community Mobilizer will play a vital role in ensuring the sustainability and impact of the project at the grassroots level.
Responsibilities & Context
বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিনাঞ্চলের স্বনামধন্য স্থানীয়, বেসরকারী সমাজ উন্নয়নমূলক সংস্থা – পূর্ণিমা ; আশির দশক হতে পূর্ণিমা সংস্থা জীবন রক্ষাকারী মানবিক কার্যক্রমসহ দারিদ্র্যতা দুরীকরণ, সামাজিক ন্যায় বিচার প্রতিষ্ঠা করা, নিরক্ষরতা, রোগ এবং সামাজিক বৈষম্যের মতো চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখোমুখি ব্যক্তি এবং সম্প্রদায়ের ক্ষমতায়নের জন্য প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ। পূর্ণিমার লক্ষ্য অর্থনৈতিক ও সামাজিক উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে রূপান্তরমূলক উন্নতি সাধন করা, নারী ও পুরুষ উভয়ের সম্ভাবনাকে উন্মোচিত করা। বাংলাদেশের নারীদের অগ্রগতির প্রতি গুরুত্ব, স্বনির্ভরতা ও দারিদ্র্য নিরসনের জন্য সম্প্রদায়ের উন্নয়ন এবং একটি পরিবেশ বান্ধব, জলবায়ুর ক্ষতিকর প্রভাব মোকাবিলা, সামাজিকভাবে ন্যায্য এবং সাংস্কৃতিকভাবে ভারসাম্যপূর্ণ সমাজ বিনির্মানের মাধ্যমে সুবিধাবঞ্চিতদের অধিকার এবং সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ ও বিভিন্ন প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়ন করে আসছে। তারই ধারাবাহিকতায় বাংলাদেশের দক্ষিনাঞ্চলের স্থানীয় সংস্থা – ”পূর্ণিমা” দাতাসংস্থা ইউএসএইডের অর্থায়নে ও ব্র্যাকের কারিগরী সহযোগীতায় ”বাংলাদেশ আমেরিকা মৈত্রী প্রকল্প” এর আওতায় ”জলবায়ু সহনশীল স্মার্ট এগ্রি কানেক্ট : জলবায়ু সহনশীল, পরিবেশ-বান্ধব এবং কৃষিভিত্তিক স্মার্ট খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা ও উন্নতকরন বিষয়ক প্রকল্প” খুলনা ও বরিশাল জেলার নিন্মোক্ত উপজেলা ও ইউনিয়নসমুহে বাস্তবায়নের লক্ষ্যে নিন্মলিখিত পদে জরুরীভিক্তিতে নিয়োগ প্রদানের জন্য দরখাস্ত আহ্বান করা যাচ্ছে। খুলনা জেলার দাকোপ উপজেলার – বাজুয়া, কামারখোলা ও দাকোপ ইউনিয়ন ও কয়রা উপজেলার – মহারাজপুর, দক্ষিন বেতকাশী, উত্তর বেতকাশী ইউনিয়ন এবং বরিশাল জেলার মুলাদি উপজেলার – বাটামারা, মুলাদি সদর, গাছুয়া ইউনিয়ন ও হিজলা উপজেলার – বরো জালিয়া, হিজলা গৌরবদী ও ধুপখোলা ইউনিয়ন নিম্নলিখিত পদে দরখাস্ত আহ্বান করা যাচ্ছে । প্রার্থীগণ কোন ইউনিয়নে কাজ করতে চান তা অবশ্যই উল্লেখ থাকতে হবে ।
Position Title : Community Mobilizer (Union Level)
Project : Climate Resilient Smart Agri Connect : Enhancing Climate Resilience, Environment-Friendly & Smart Agro-Based Food Security Project.
Duty Station : Assigned Unions under Dakhuf, Koyra upazilas – Khulna & Hizla & Muladi under Barisal Districts.
Reports to : Upazila Coordinator.
Contract Type : Fixed term, Duration : 20 months
Position Overview
The Community Mobilizer will work at the grassroots level to build awareness, mobilize, and strengthen local communities’ capacity in climate-resilient agricultural practices under the project. The role focuses on community engagement, organizing training sessions, and promoting sustainable practices to improve food security, climate resilience, and environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Community Engagement and Mobilization (40%) :
Build relationships with community members, leaders, and local groups to promote project activities.
Conduct regular field visits to engage and inform communities on climate-smart agriculture practices.
Organize community meetings to discuss project objectives, expected outcomes, and community roles.
2. Training and Capacity Building (25%) :
Support the delivery of training sessions on climate-smart agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and fisheries for local farmers and other stakeholders.
Identify local training needs and help adapt training materials to be culturally relevant and accessible.
Work alongside Technical Officers to demonstrate practical techniques and skills.
3. Monitoring and Data Collection (20%) :
Gather and document data on community participation, feedback, and the effectiveness of project activities.
Assist in baseline and end-line surveys, ensuring community participation and accurate data collection.
Support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) processes by recording and reporting community-level insights and challenges.
4. Advocacy and Awareness Raising (10%) :
Raise awareness on climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and food security through awareness campaigns and demonstrations.
Facilitate information sessions on topics like sustainable water management, crop diversification, and pest management.
Encourage communities to adopt environmentally friendly practices and climate-resilient approaches.
5. Coordination and Reporting (5%) :
Collaborate with the Upazila Coordinator and other project staff to coordinate activities.
Prepare and submit regular reports on activities, challenges, and community feedback.
Participate in project meetings and contribute insights from the field to inform project strategy and adjustments.
Qualifications and Experience :
Education: HSc/Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Social Work, Community Development, or related fields.
Experience: At least 2 years of experience in community mobilization, preferably in agriculture or climate resilience projects.
Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of sustainable agriculture, climate adaptation, and community-based approaches is preferred.
Skills:Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to engage with diverse groups, including vulnerable and marginalized populations.
Proficiency in local language(s) and knowledge of local customs and community dynamics.
