Job Context
The Accelerated Adult Learning (AAL) Teacher will deliver high-quality, learner-centered Basic and functional literacy classes for adults and out-of-school youth in the Cox’s Bazar Rohingya and Host community participant. The teacher will work under the project framework, focusing on building functional literacy and promoting lifelong learning specially to prepare the participant for engaging skill training. The role includes active collaboration with M&E teams to ensure the program’s impact is measured and improved upon.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
- Plan and deliver engaging, interactive, and participatory literacy lessons for adult learners, considering their cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
- Utilize UNESCO led developed Basic and functional literacy AAL curriculum and materials, ensuring lessons align with program objectives.
- Integrate life skills, numeracy, and vocational content into lessons where relevant to curriculum.
- Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages participation and retention.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Record attendance, learner progress, and lesion outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on teaching activities, learner performance, and challenges faced.
- Share feedback on curriculum, teaching materials, and learner outcomes with the Education Officer.
Collaboration with Program and M&E:
- Support M&E teams in conducting assessments, surveys, and focus group discussions with learners.
- Provide data and insights to M&E teams for evaluating program impact and effectiveness.
- Implement recommendations from M&E reports to improve teaching strategies and learner engagement.
Community Engagement and Outreach:
- Liaise with community leaders, caregivers, and learners to promote the literacy program and ensure attendance.
- Address barriers to participation, such as cultural sensitivities or learner-specific challenges.
Professional Development:
- Participate in regular training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives provided by organization and sectors
- Rolling up the training to the volunteers and other relevant staff
- Stay informed about best practices in adult literacy and pedagogy.
