Requirements

Education

Master’s Degree in Social Science, preferably in Gender Studies/Women Studies/Law/ Sociology/Psychology or relevant discipline.

Experience

  • At least 7 years

    NGO, Development Agency

Additional Requirements

  • At least 7 years of work experience in gender focused development related areas, conversant with rural and urban gender issues in Bangladesh.
  • Hands on experience in gender analysis, strategy development, mainstreaming, capacity building and development and implementation of gender programs.
  • Deep understanding, passion and belief in human-rights and feminist approaches
  • Significant experience in large I/NGO or UN, providing technical leadership in the design and implementation of gender transformative and inclusive humanitarian and development programs
  • Proven experience in strategy development and providing strategic leadership, oversight and high-level guidance for mainstreaming gender equality and social inclusion
  • Demonstrated advocacy and networking experience to influence policies and drive public campaigns, activism, and social movement to advance GESI
  • Significant experience in capacity building and training at different levels on GESI
  • Solid know-how of designing and using various GESI assessment/analysis tools
  • Strong interpersonal , networking, representation and coordination skills
  • Excellent Facilitation skills
  • Fluency in both written and oral communication in English and Bangla

The Opportunity

The GESI Advisor is accountable for ensuring mainstreaming GESI (Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion) concept including situation assessment, developing strategy and operational plans, supporting in developing systems and policies, building capacity, monitoring and measuring impact in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and gender equity areas both at organizational and program level. The GESI Advisor provides strategic and technical leadership in advancing GESI at both programmatic and organization level to deliver SCIBD country strategic plan. The role will aim to mainstream gender and social inclusion across the programming cycles to drive transformative social change for lasting impact on children in both development and humanitarian contexts. The role also seeks to strengthen the organizational culture, systems, policies, and practices to promote a gender-sensitive and inclusive workplace. His/her role expands from project designing phase up to monitoring and evaluation phase where programs are examined and supported through GESI lens.

S/he will lead the design, development, and execution of the country GESI strategy and rollout global policies, as well as lead in developing and implementing Gender Transformative action plan, strategy and operational framework both short and long terms. S/he will provide technical support to the thematic sectors and other relevant teams/functions across the different stages of the project cycle for gender sensitive and inclusive program design, analysis/assessments, implementation, and MEAL systems along with necessary capacity strengthening initiatives to deliver and evidence impact. The Advisor will also actively represent SCIBD in external forums/ network/cluster and maintain strategic engagement with relevant government stakeholders to advocate for child-centered policies, strategies, and practices with GESI lens. S/he will also strengthen the understanding and conscience of staff and partners about appropriate behavior, attitude, and practices to enable and promote a gender-sensitive and inclusive culture and environment at the workplace.
