Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

  • The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.
  • CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD’s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.
  • The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.
  • CDD is planning to recruit one ‘Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer’ under the project titled ‘Strengthening Early Identification & Early Intervention for the Children with Disabilities’ supported by Liliane Foundation (LF). This position is responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing capacity-building programs and initiatives to enhance individuals, teams, and partner organization’s skills, knowledge, and capabilities. The incumbent will work closely with Management to assess training needs, develop appropriate training materials, and deliver practical capacity-building activities. Develop case studies and success stories to illustrate changes induced by the project and for communication use. Advocacy and Capacity Building Officer is expected to ensure capacity-building plans are established and run in a timely manner for the project. The duration of the project is till December-2025.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct needs assessments and collaborates with stakeholders to identify capacity-building needs and gaps.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive capacity-building strategies and plans aligned with project goals.
  • Create and adapt training materials, including presentations, handouts, and e-learning resources, to meet the specific needs of different audiences.
  • Develop Screening tools for early Identification of children with developmental delays and disabilities.
  • Provide technical support to partner organization (PO) to conduct household level survey to identify children with developmental delays and disabilities.
  • Develop a sustainable referral pathway for early identification and early intervention for children with disabilities.
  • Provide technical support to partners’ organization to conduct accessibility assessment at community school.
  • Identify technical resources required for the implementation of the plan and support their mobilization and contextualization in close coordination with Program Manager.
  • Provide guidance to partner organizations in the identification of children with disabilities needs for assistive devices, and home adaptations.
  • Develop family information/education tools and support local service providers in developing and enforcing caregivers’ rehabilitation training.
  • Identification of case studies and success stories to illustrate changes induced by the project and for communication use.
  • Support Partner Organization for Networking with potential service providers at the community level;Support partner organization (Pos) in developing and implementing advocacy campaign at community level.
  • Conduct advocacy in association partner organization (Pos) with Ministry of Social Welfare (MoSW) , Shishu Bikash Kendra (Child Development Centres) and Shishu Bikash Kendra (Child Development Centres), Jatiyo Protibondhi Unnayan Foundation (JPUF) on screening and early detection of children in risk with disability.
  • Conduct advocacy in association with partner organization with Upazilla Committees on the Rights and Protection of Persons with Disabilities for Disability Identity Card and inclusive education.

Safeguarding responsibilities:

  • Adhere to CDD’s Children and Adults at Risk Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants;
  • Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project;
  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures;

Additional responsibilities:

  • Perform any other responsibility/ special duty delegated by project and CDD management.
