Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) is one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh. Meghna PVC Ltd., a sister concern of the Meghna Group of Industries, is currently the pioneer and leading PVC & PET resin manufacturer in Bangladesh. This position will interface with all the departments to ensure processes and special projects are in compliance with local rules and regulations. The role of AGM is to implement and maintain an environmental health and safety program involving hazard identification, evaluation and control, accident/injury prevention, hazardous material/waste management, emergency preparedness, fire/life safety, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and environmental regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure all Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) processes and procedures are implemented and standardized across the Chemical Complex (PVC/VCM/ASU/PET/H2O2 plants).
  • Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
  • Track company health and safety metrics and use the data to identify and reduce risk.
  • Lead all aspects of incident investigation, including verifying the root cause and approving the implementation of preventative actions.
  • Ensure emergency response systems, policies, and procedures are in place to manage emergency situations.
  • Maintain a Hazardous waste program, including chemical accumulation and accumulation area inspections.
  • Monitor and ensure that the activities are being performed in accordance with acceptable safety norms and comply with the IFC Environment & Safety (E&S) performance standards.
  • Carry out safety inspections like fire pumps, sprinkler systems, fire hydrant systems, pillar hydrants, fire equipment cabinets, fire hose cabinets, fire extinguishers, emergency exits, fire alarms, smoke detectors, emergency lights, fire-rated doors, first aid boxes, etc.
  • Plan & perform the HSE&S Training Need Analysis (TNA) and based on that, design and provide HSE&S training, and support to all levels of employees across the plant.
  • Develop and mentor a competent team of suitable size comprising of HSE&S professionals, and engineers to develop, implement, and monitor all applicable HSE&S management systems across the chemical complex (PVC/VCM/ASU/PET/H2O2 Plants).
