Responsibilities & Context

Key Responsibilities:

• Animal Health Management: Provide expert advice on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of livestock diseases, ensuring the health of animals across the project.
• Disease Prevention & Control: Develop and implement strategies for disease prevention, monitoring, and control in collaboration with farmers and veterinarians.
• Training & Capacity Building: Deliver training to farmers on animal health management, including vaccination schedules, parasite control, and disease management techniques.
• Monitoring & Surveillance: Regularly monitor livestock health in the field, identifying potential health risks and providing timely interventions.
• Field Support: Conduct on-site assessments, provide treatment for sick animals, and offer guidance on maintaining overall livestock health.
• Health Reporting: Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatment histories, and disease outbreaks. Provide regular health reports and assessments to the project manager and senior management.
• Veterinary Collaboration: Work with local veterinarians and veterinary health professionals to ensure that animal health practices align with industry standards and improve farmer knowledge.
• Livestock Productivity Enhancement: Support the project’s broader objectives by linking animal health with improved livestock productivity, advising on nutrition and breeding for better health outcomes.
• Feedback & Improvement: Collect feedback from farmers regarding animal health practices, suggest improvements, and implement new strategies to address any challenges in the field.

Project Targets:

• Organise 10,000 farmers into 500 groups for collective action on purchasing inputs and selling products.
• Provide training in animal health, good husbandry, and financial literacy to 10,000 farmers.Organise 20 Vaccination and Health CampsDevelop 20 Good Livestock and Animal Health Practices for Farmers and Organise 6 Farmers Day.
• Ensure at least 2000 online veterinary services and support to access inputs for farmers.
