Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in EEE / ECE / APECE /ETE/ ICE / CSE or Telecommunication & Engineering from any reputed university.

Experience

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in IGW/IPTSP operations or NOC channel operations, with a strong understanding of IGW systems and processes.

Skills & Expertise:

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Nagios, LibreNMS, MRTG).
  • Knowledge of core connectivity management (trunk groups, signaling links, IPLC, ITC, NTTN).
  • Hands-on experience with IP Phones, IP-PBX systems, and traffic analysis.

Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on first-level resolution.
  • Ability to analyze reports and identify performance gaps.

Communication Skills:

  • Clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong reporting skills and escalation protocols.

Adaptability & Collaboration:

  • Flexibility to work in a 24/7 shift environment.
  • Collaboration with vendors, operators, and customers to ensure operational excellence.

Responsibilities & Context

Position Overview:

The Assistant Engineer – IGW, NOC will be responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining end-to-end IPTV systems and ensuring uninterrupted video service operations. This role involves 24/7 surveillance, proactive issue resolution, and close coordination with local and international partners to ensure optimal Quality of Service (QoS) and network performance. The position demands critical thinking, technical expertise, and effective communication to support the organization’s operational excellence in a dynamic environment.

Key Accountabilities & Activities:

Network Monitoring & Fault Management:

  • Monitor network faults and escalate issues on a 24/7 basis.
  • Track and resolve core connectivity issues in trunk groups, signaling links, international (IPLC, ITC), and local transmission (NTTN) paths using tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, LibreNMS, and MRTG.
  • Perform routine shift-wise call testing and log network issues.

Traffic Routing & Analysis:

  • Modify traffic routing as per instructions.
  • Observe daily traffic rates and generate reports for IGW and IPTSP operations.
  • Record and analyze call failure causes and communicate with stakeholders for clarification.

Customer Support & Configuration:

  • Provide 1st level support for IPTSP customer call connectivity issues.
  • Configure IP Phones and IP-PBX systems.

Vendor & Stakeholder Communication:

  • Raise and follow up on trouble tickets with vendors.
  • Act as a liaison between IGW/IOS/ICX operators and international customers to resolve faults and maintain QoS.
  • Inform stakeholders about planned and scheduled network activities and follow up as needed.

Operational Maintenance:

  • Maintain a log of network issues and communicate operational concerns within and outside the organization.
  • Conduct periodic visits to the switch room, monitor environmental conditions (e.g., temperature), and report irregularities.
