Responsibilities & Context
- Formulation Design: Develop and optimize pharmaceutical formulations for new and existing products, ensuring stability, efficacy, and patient compliance.
- Preformulation Studies: Conduct preformulation studies to understand the physical and chemical properties of drug substances and excipients.
- Process Development: Design and optimize manufacturing processes for scale-up and commercialization, ensuring reproducibility and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all formulation activities comply with national and international regulatory requirements, preparing necessary documentation for regulatory submissions.
- Technology Transfer: Coordinate the transfer of formulation and process knowledge from R&D to manufacturing, ensuring smooth scale-up and production.
- Stability Studies: Design and conduct stability studies to establish product shelf life and storage conditions.
- Collaborative Research: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, quality control, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
- Problem Solving: Identify and resolve formulation and process-related issues during development and manufacturing to ensure product quality and compliance.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of formulation development activities, preparing technical reports, batch records, and other documentation as required.
- Innovation and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in pharmaceutical formulation technologies and implement innovative approaches to improve product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
- Vendor Interaction: Interact with suppliers for sourcing raw materials and excipients, evaluating their quality and suitability for formulation development.
