Responsibilities & Context

DRRA is one of the development organizations in the field of disability in Bangladesh since 1996, working for developing an inclusive society and promoting rights of persons with disabilities as well as for the destitute. DRRA is currently working in Dhaka, Gazipur, Manikganj and Satkhira.We are seeking a skilled, experienced and motivated person to join in the team as Assistant Physiotherapist within May 2025. The ideal candidate will be responsible to provide home based/center based care and as well hospital base therapy services (upon requirement) in the DCE project implementation area of DRRA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Coordinator (PC) for smooth implementation of community based rehabilitation services at (07) CRCD of Manikganj districts.
  • Active participation and be responsible for the disability identification and assessment in the working area.
  • Provide regular therapy service to targeted children with disabilities.
  • Preserve all necessary documentation of individual children file including half-yearly evaluation.
  • Assist in providing assistive devices and epilepsy drugs to targeted children with disabilities to increase their mobility and control fits.
  • Assist in promoting referral linkages for targeted children with disabilities.
  • Assist in organizing awareness meeting with targeted stakeholders for inclusion of children and youngsters with disabilities.
  • Work in organizing awareness campaigns at schools to aware school children (boys and girls), teachers, SMC members about rights and inclusion of children with disabilities.
  • Work in home and environment modification for the children and youngsters with disabilities at the community.
  • Assist in volunteer activities of the targeted children to aware community people on disability.
  • Support in capacity building, sensitizing and lobbying of targeted stakeholders & service providers of the project.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, sharing of information, context analysis, need analysis etc. as per instructions of the Line Manager.
  • Performing any other relevant duties and responsibilities as per the directives of the Line Manager.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to effectively engage with children with disabilities, their families, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Listens actively and responds empathetically to the concerns of caregivers and children, building trust and confidence in service delivery.
  • Explains physiotherapy procedures and exercises clearly and in simple language that is easily understood by non-professionals.
  • Maintains a respectful, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered approach in all interactions.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members, community workers, and stakeholders to ensure coordinated and holistic support for children.
  • Experience on Community Awareness & Campaign programs will be added value
