Essential:

  • Experience in working with water quality monitoring (FC, FRC, TTC, Fe, chlorine, COD, BOD, etc.), distribution planning, stock management, and test execution. Skilled in budget tracking, program planning, and monitoring evaluations with strong technical knowledge of drinking water standards.
  • Practical knowledge in Project Implementation, Social/Community Mobilization, Reporting & Documentation, Facilitation, Monitoring & Evaluation,
  • Proficient in Water Supply Management, Autocade software, Water Quality test, AWD Cases Management.
  • Excellent in Conflict resolution, Self-development, Strategic Management.
  • Excellent knowledge in Reading / Writing/Speaking/Listening in English & Bengali.
  • Proven Expertise in Microsoft Word/ Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Problem Solving, Planning, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage workload effectively

Responsibilities & Context

Ensure periodic water quality tests for providing safe & affordable drinking for vulnerable FDMN community – 40%

  • Through daily /weekly monitoring of water being supplied to the community from water sources, central storage systems, and distribution points, ensure that drinking water delivered to refugees and host communities is safe and complies with SPHERE, WHO, and IRB standards for human consumption.
  • Conduct regular testing and analysis (chemical, physical, bacteriological) in camps and host communities. Report immediately on any contamination findings, specifying parameters tested.
  • Oversee and support emergency water treatment, including chlorination for Refugee & Host communities, ensuring team readiness and effectiveness.
  • Task the field team to conduct the daily basis free residual chlorine of treated water at distribution points (public water stand posts), water storage and randomly selected family water collecting containers.
  • In collaboration with the Hygiene promotion team, organize awareness and education best practices in handling water at households, cleaning of the family storage containers, and separating drinking water from water set for other domestic usage.
  • Ensure proper handling and adequate storage of all water treatment chemicals (HTH, Water purification tablets etc) and other disinfectants.
  • Accurately document each test result, recommend corrective measures as necessary, and provide trend analysis reports to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure requests for all relevant tools and reagents for water testing have been raised on time to ensure adequate stock of reagents in ensured at all times.
  • Ensure the water quality analysis has been carried out at least twice for each borehole drilled during borehole development and after hand pump installation
  • Initiate and execute training sessions on quality assurance, safety, and lab procedures for team members.
  • Ensure the overall Water Quality Laboratory remains operational and updated.
  • Prepare a schedule of testing in the camps’ water facilities and ensure timely execution.
  • Frequent visits to camps to ensure the Standard sample collection procedures are maintained properly.
  • Collect samples from different locations in need base.

Effective water quality monitoring & sharing information with sector & respective stakeholders by ensuring WASH sector & SPHERE standards – 15%

  • Analysis of the water quality of the groundwater around the year.
  • Prepare individual work plans according to project activity.
  • Prepare & follow the water quality monitoring checklist to ensure periodic WQT.
  • Provide proper guidance to field staff for JART and ADW responses of respective AoR.
  • Maintain an up-to-date monthly inventory of lab supplies, ensure timely requests for reagents, and maintain stock to support uninterrupted lab operations.
  • Follow the individual work plan for quality control of project activities.
  • Supervise & control field level
  • Prepare a business plan at the community level and execute it as per the proposal and organizational guidelines.
  • Check work orders and specifications to ensure good quality of water quality materials reception,
  • Conduct water quality tests periodically in the Ukhiya responsible area.
  • follow WASH sector guidelines and WHO standards to serve water to community people.
  • Supervise and monitor each stage of the activities.
  • Ensure that standards and instructions are given by the line manager and Islamic Relief Bangladesh procedures.
  • Ability to cross-check physical, chemical, and biological parameters & standards for a healthy environment.
  • Monitor the working progress & ensure the quality of project activities.

Do effective and appropriate networking and coordination with different stakeholders – 15%

  • Represent IRB WASH water quality in sector technical working groups.
  • Assist the Team in water quality checking and water safety planning.
  • Assist in organizing inception meetings at different levels.
  • Participate in various coordination meetings such as WASH & WASH sector meetings, CiC coordination meetings, and water quality monitoring workshops.
  • Organize capacity-building training, orientations, and sessions on water quality tests.
  • Linkages with government officials, DPHE, CiCs, CMOs, UN agencies and NGOs.
  • Effective coordination with DPHE, INGOs, and NGOs by providing and accepting internal water quality test reports.
  • Involve project implementation teams in the implementation of the project.
  • Communication and collaboration with SMSD, CMO, focal agencies.
  • Coordination & networking with key stakeholders.
  • Participate in various personal development training, orientation, and workshops.

Project reporting and documentation – 15%

  • Provide monthly water quality reports to SMSD, CMO, sector, government authority, and related agencies.
  • Report suspected cases and confirm cases of AWD with health partner, wash Agency, and respective line manager.
  • Provide the necessary water quality-related documents to WASH focal points, agencies, etc.
  • Prepare and submit a plan of the weekly and monthly WQT activities to the line manager:
  • Report back any problems and constraints encountered during the course of the activities and suggest operational solutions.
  • Share
  • Support for the Procurement of materials like requisition, quotation collection, etc.

Others – 5%

  • Participate in sessional programs like winterization, Ramadhan, Qurbani, etc.
  • According to the proposal, propose some methodology and provide it with the experience and lessons learned from the other organizations.
  • Support the community mobilization team.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor
  • Ensure visibility of the project.
  • Ensure the complaint response and feedback mechanism in the field level.
