Requirements

Education

Work Experience

  • Prior experience with Refugees is desirable.
  • Experience of working with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Languages

  • Excellent knowledge of both written and oral English is required.

Responsibilities & Context

Red Cross – Red Crescent movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is a national society of the movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President’s Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971. This is the biggest humanitarian organization in Bangladesh. As an auxiliary to the government, the Society provides humanitarian assistance to the vulnerable people over the last 48 years and has undertaken a wide range of activities in humanitarian response, disaster management, health, capacity building and in promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi national for the following position under Myanmar Refugee Relief Operations (MRRO) at Cox’s Bazar:

Project Name: Myanmar Refugee Relief Operations (MRRO), Cox’s Bazar

Duration of Contract: Up to 31 December 2025 (extendable)

Age: 36 years (Age limit will be relaxed in case of potential candidate)

Reportable to: Deputy Director, MRRO

Accountability to: Programme Manager, MRRO, BDRCS

Responsible for: Project Coordination and Accountable to Program Manager

Location: BDRCS MRRO Office, Cox’s Bazar

Job Purpose

The Assistant Warehouse & Procurement Officer is responsible for ensuring Warehouse and Procurement activities and coordination of MRRO. The primary objective of the position is to ensure the timely and effective provide Purchase and logistics services for the project, addressing the day-to-day concerns of the project, updating on project’s progress, project’s plans, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate with the Logistic Officer to facilitate the transportation of NFIs from warehouse to Distribution center, ensure all In and Out report for the NFIs.
  • Ensure proper Stock Card and bin Card for every item in the warehouse.
  • Purchasing items as per approved requisition. Maintain detailed and accurate records of purchase committee meetings including agendas, meeting minutes, and follow-up/action points.
  • Assist the procurement committee for purchases of Office goods, stationery, training materials, IT equipment and other office demand as required.
  • Identifying suppliers, obtaining quotations, and issuing purchase orders.
  • Negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers.
  • Purchasing goods and services, including equipment, materials, and business services.
  • Managing the procurement process, including overseeing delivery and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Evaluating offers and suppliers to ensure the best value.
  • Writing reports and recommendations and keeping daily records.
  • Optimizing procurement processes to reduce costs and lead times.
  • Maintain and update the list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development.
  • Create, Developing and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers.
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
  • Develop plans for purchasing equipment, services, and supplies.
  • Researching and analyzing the supply market to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Maintains files of all logistics records under his/her responsibility in a confidential manner according to logistics procedures.
  • Maintain an up-to-date asset register that is to be submitted monthly to the logistics officer.
  • Implement a storage/inventory system according to donors to be able to identify assets purchased under defined budgets.
  • Collect and review vehicle and generator logbooks and report any inconsistencies.
  • Participate in internal meetings, outside meetings, and weekly meetings with UNHCR.
  • Signing delivery notes upon receipt of shipments.
  • Heeding notes about appropriate procedures for handling stock, particularly when fragile.
  • Prepare project needs by gathering requisitions.
  • Ensuring that the facility remains clean, sanitary, and well-organized.
  • Ensure that follow up of document approvals by concerned authorities is done timely and consistently and keep the Deputy Director/ Project Manager updated as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring all project documents and records are maintained.
  • Assist other staff in the identification of potential implementation problems and bottlenecks,
  • Report to the Deputy Director/ Program Manager on a daily and weekly basis and the project’s performance in relation to logistic issues.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned. Any other relevant duties as requested by the line manager/concerned authorities.
