Requirements

Education

University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance.

Experience

  • At least 6 years

Additional Requirements

  • Six or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relative field with experience in general administrative work.
  • National/International Training on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) will be highly valued. This can go under desired experience.
  • Has proven experience in working both with the Government of Bangladesh and UN Organizations for a significant period.
  • Have extensive knowledge and written communication skills in English and Bangla.
  • Has in-depth knowledge about the hierarchy of the government office (central and field administration).
  • Has clear understanding of the Acts, Laws, and Policies, Frameworks, Strategies and Protocols of the various concerned ministries and departments of the Government of Bangladesh.
  • Understands disaster management, emergency preparedness and response, food assistance.
  • Has excellent knowledge and understanding of WFP’s vision mission and values.
  • Expert in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Experience in report writing, documentation and communication related disaster to risk management and Rohingya Crisis will be a plus.

Responsibilities & Context

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Provide dedicated executive assistant support to the Government Liaison unit for arranging and coordinating meetings as well as follow up on the agreed decisions from these meetings.
  • Prepare and/or consolidate comprehensive reports, documentation, correspondence, briefing notes, etc. and conduct research in the area of work with for arranging and coordinating meetings as well as follow up on the agreed decisions from these meetings.
  • Actively seek and use feedback to improve business processes and procedures through monitoring and tracking relevant legislative and policy developments, providing updates and analysis to inform organizational decision-making.
  • Respond to complex business support queries in order to provide a timely and accurate resolution of enquiries for internal and externals e.g. government counterparts, keeping them informed about WFP’s activities, achievements, and challenges.
  • Oversee the maintenance of records and databases to ensure information is organised and readily available for staff and compliant with all relevant regulations and policies.
  • Revise and review correspondence and documentation, providing feedback and making amendments where appropriate, to contribute to production of these materials to time and quality standards through preparing or consolidating comprehensive reports, documentation, and correspondence, briefing notes and taking meeting minutes.
  • Assess and recommend improvements to procedures and practices, to contribute to the effective delivery of business support services with Coordination with internal WFP units and UN agencies as per need.
  • Provide a full range of complex business support services to staff to contribute to the effective functioning of business operation
  • Coordinate tasks with colleagues from other unit to ensure support services are delivered consistently and to the required standards.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
