Uttaran is an NGO that has been operating in Bangladesh since 1985 with the mission to uphold the rights and entitlements of the poor and disadvantaged communities and to improve their socio-economic conditions. Uttaran adopts a people-centred approach, utilising a rights-based framework to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities, and empower marginalised communities across Bangladesh.

Role and Scope

Uttaran is seeking a dynamic “Childcare Expert “for an upcoming project aimed at expanding access to skills development and employability for NEET youth, with a strong emphasis on gender diversity, ethnicity, and Persons with Special Needs (PwSN). This initiative prioritizes female participation in the national workforce through interventions such as alternative education, skills training, employment support, institutional capacity-building, and the creation of an enabling environment. The project also integrates a Contingent Emergency Response Component to enhance adaptability and resilience. The overarching goal is to empower NEET youth by strengthening their skills, promoting continued education, and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• At least 10 years of relevant work experience in any reputable national/ international NGO/relevant agencies in a similar position.
• Have at least 5 years of experience as a Childcare Professional, demonstrating expertise in offering supervisory oversight within Child Care Centers and providing guidance to caregivers and parents.
• Proficient in the development and implementation of educational and recreational programs, with a focus on fostering the physical, emotional, behavioral, and social skills of children.
• Knowledge and expertise in safeguarding children from violence, abuse, and exploitation.
• Possess specialized professional training in the field of early childhood development/childcare.
• Demonstrating proficiency in comprehending the sophisticated structure of child caregiver training and proposing enhancements to the system, aiming for improved child development outcomes and increased female workforce participation.
