Responsibilities & Context:

Civil engineers have many responsibilities, including:

Planning and design:

Civil engineers plan, design, and develop projects for the built environment, such as roads, bridges, tunnels, and water systems. They use computer-aided design (CAD) software to design infrastructure systems.

Construction management:

Civil engineers oversee construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to high standards of safety and construction. They lead and direct construction teams, and supervise on-site progress.

Compliance:

Civil engineers ensure that projects comply with legal guidelines, environmental directives, and health and safety requirements.

Technical advice:

Civil engineers provide technical advice and creative solutions for construction challenges.
