Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline preferable in Social Work, Community Development, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Additional Requirements
- Age at most 45 years
- Fresh graduates or individuals with experience in community mobilisation or working on development projects in rural areas are encouraged to apply.
- Experience in mental health, healthcare, or social work is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of the social and cultural context of Dinajpur district.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and build relationships with diverse community members.
- Basic knowledge of mental health and psychosocial support.
- Fluency in Bangla (spoken and written);
- knowledge of local dialects is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel within the project area.
Responsibilities & Context
Job Description:
Community Mobilisation and Awareness:
- Conduct outreach activities to engage persons living with mental ill-health, their carers, and community members.
- Organise awareness sessions to educate the community on mental health issues and reduce stigma.
- Assist in the dissemination of educational materials on mental health and wellbeing.
- Mobilise beneficiaries for mental health camp for assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, and conduct regular follow-up in the community and home visits.
Support for Mental Health and Wellbeing:
- Facilitate peer support groups for persons living with mental ill-health and their carers.
- Provide basic psychosocial support and refer individuals to professional services when necessary.
- Assist in linking beneficiaries with healthcare providers and other essential services.
Capacity Building and Training:
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge of mental health support strategies.
- Support healthcare workers, community leaders, and volunteers in implementing mental health interventions.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Maintain records of community engagement activities and beneficiary participation.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Project Field Manager.
- Assist in data collection and feedback to assess the impact of project interventions.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
- Adhere to CDD’s Children and Adults at Risk Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants
- Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project
- Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform any other responsibility/ special duty delegated by project and CDD management.

- The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.

- CDD is accepting application for the mentioned position under a project titled ‘Promoting the sustainability of wellbeing programmes for carers of persons with disabilities and mental health conditions in Savar sub-district and Dinajpur district in Bangladesh’ to be implemented with the support of Carers Worldwide. The duration of the project is till 31st December 2027. The selected candidate will initially be hired for a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of this period, his/her employment contract will be renewed on an annual basis.
