Responsibilities & Context
- Position Overview: The Community Health Worker (CHW) will play a crucial role in delivering health education and services to families in the slum area. The CHW will act as a bridge between the community and the healthcare system, promoting better health practices, ensuring access to services, and addressing health needs in the community.
- Community Outreach and Education: Conduct home visits to provide health education on topics related to maternal, neonatal, and child health. Organize and facilitate community health education sessions and workshops. Promote healthy behaviors and preventive measures through community campaigns.
- Health Service Delivery: Assist in the identification and referral of individuals in need of medical care and services. Support mothers and caregivers in managing health-related issues and accessing healthcare services. Provide basic health services, such as measuring growth parameters, and assist with immunizations.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of health education sessions, home visits, and health service referrals. Collect and report data on community health status, program progress, and outcomes.
- Advocacy and Support: Advocate for the needs of the community with local health authorities and stakeholders. Provide emotional and social support to families, addressing their concerns and challenges.
- Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, project staff, and local organizations to ensure coordinated care and support. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Qualifications: Education and Experience: HSC/A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required; additional training or certification in community health or a related field is preferred. Experience working in a similar role or with underserved populations is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse community members. Basic knowledge of maternal, neonatal, and child health issues and services. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments. Proficiency in local languages and dialects is preferred.

- Working Conditions:
