Experience

  • At least 5 years

Additional Requirements

  • At least 5 years working experience in supporting programs that link with national MNCAH, immunisation and emergency programme design and development.

  • Practical experience in planning, implementation and monitoring of MNCAH and immunisation program at national and subnational level.

  • Working experience with DGHS and DGFP at national and subnational level.

  • Well versed in computer programmes like MS office.

Responsibilities & Context

A. Purpose

To provide technical support and coordination for restoring and ensuring quality Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) services in flood-affected areas.

B. Background

Recent flash floods in Bangladesh, triggered by heavy rainfall and upstream water flows from India, have had a devastating impact on communities across 11 districts in the eastern regions of the country. According to the National Disaster Response Coordination Center (NDRCC), some 5.8 million people including 2.36 million children in the northeastern and southeastern regions have been affected and more than 1 million people are in communities cut off by the flooding. A reported 502,501 people are displaced in 3,403 evacuation shelters. The most affected districts are Noakhali, Cumilla, Laxipur, Feni, Chattogram, and Moulvibazar. 59 deaths have been reported. 1,038 medical teams are providing support to the affected, but shortages of essential supplies such as ORS and IV fluids due to increased diarrhoeal cases have been reported. UN agencies and humanitarian partners are delivering aid to the affected populations. To support the recovery efforts, two consultants will be recruited to provide technical assistance for emergency maternal, newborn and child health activities in flood-affected areas.

C. Objectives, and Expected Results

Objective:

To provide technical support and coordination for restoring as well as ensuring quality Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) services in flood-affected areas.

Purpose:

To assist upazila health managers in preparing micro plans for MNCAH services in flood-affected areas, maintaining a list of infants and pregnant women to ensure they receive quality services, and following up on the implementation process, monitoring, and evaluating the program’s progress.

Duty Station: Partner/IP Office (Office Base)

Contract Duration: 6 Months

Contract Type: Contract with E-Zone.

Contract Start Date: Immediate
