Requirements

Education

Qualification: Having/obtained FCPS/MS (General Surgery) or any Equivalent degree recognized by BMDC, will be preferred

Or

Obtained Membership from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (MCPS) in General Surgery with 10-15 years’ postgraduate working experience in different fields of surgery in general and emergency set up in addition to one year of internship.

Or

Completed MS (General Surgery) 2nd part and now in 3rd part (Thesis) having 5-10 years working experiences in general surgical fields and different subspecialties both in routine and emergency set up

Having worked in multicultural environments which required good clinical judgement

Responsibilities & Context

Project Name: ‘MNCH and Nutrition Service Delivery for Bangladeshi Host Community’

Reportable to: UH&FPO – Upazila Health Complex

Monitoring & Technical Assistants: PHD in collaboration with UNICEF will deploy a group of staff for round-the-clock monitoring and technical support. This may include spot check, review of performance reports and assessing technical competency.

Accountable to: As an appointing authority, consultant will be accountable to PHD for legal and disciplinary procedures for which PHD will review your performances periodically. Team Leader of this project and senior officials will represent PHD.

Work station: Upazila Health Complex (UHC) of Hatiya/Swandip

Job Objective:

To lead operational activities of ‘’MNCH and Nutrition Service Delivery for Bangladeshi Host Community’ supported by UNICEF is to manage investments primarily at 2 hard-to-reach Upazilas level of care towards the strengthening of Health and Nutrition services. As a part of human resource support, PHD and UNICEF proposes health responses for maintaining a facility-based Primary Health Care (PHC) inclusive of Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health Services (MNCAH), while ensuring the quality of care.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the technical supervision of UNICEF’s Health Section at Cox’s Bazar, and in collaboration with the authority of assigned UHCs, CS-Office and relevant government institutions, each Consultant, by staying in duty area, will undertake the following tasks, not limited to:

  • Work as a specialist doctor in managing all surgical cases including surgical operations independently, wherever and whenever needed both routine and emergency especially those are being referred from the UH&FWC/USC, CC and Community or from private doctors/clinics.
  • Provide services and consultation to general surgical and related patients as per requirements.
  • Perform the ward rounds with pre-operative post-operative cases.
  • Perform surgical operations, both as routine/scheduled and emergency operations.
  • Support and mentor, Medical Officers, Nurses and other mid-level healthcare professionals.
  • Provide proper services to the patients admitted in the inpatient wards performing roster on call duties as and when needed to cover 24/7 services.
  • Assist to prepare periodic reports and other requests for information as required.
  • Provide support to manage supply and stock in OT/Medicine/Store to avoid out of stock situations.
  • Active engagement with referral and management of transportation for the patients to higher facilities as required. He/she will take the help of WhatsApp/Viber group involving all concerned for ensuring timely, effective and documented communication with all.
  • Coordinate with data entry operators to collect medical information and other details into DHIS2 with maintaining confidentiality.
  • Perform such other relevant duties assign by the line manager and supervisor.
  • Maintain functional relation with and accountability to the in-charge of the respective Upazila Health Complex (UHC)
  • Any other assignment given by PHD management as suggested by UNICEF.

Compensation & Other Benefits

  • Salary: Taka 3,00,000/= Monthly (Consolidated)
