Applications are invited on urgent basis for this position in IAHS-H, USTC on the following terms and conditions:

Job Responsibilities

Oversees the daily operations of the blood bank, including blood donation, testing, processing, and storage of blood and blood components.

Collaborates with oncologists, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.

Ensures compliance with national and international standards for blood banking.

Provides training and education to laboratory technologists, medical officers, and other healthcare professionals on blood banking procedures, protocols, and policies.

Ensures the preparation of high-quality blood components, including whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma and platelet concentrates.

Provides medical leadership and expertise in transfusion medicine, including patient selection for transfusion therapy, compatibility testing, and monitoring of transfusion reactions.

Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients requiring transfusions, including pre-transfusion assessment, post-transfusion monitoring, and management of adverse reactions.

Stays updated with advancements in haematology research and treatment modalities.

Educates patients and their families about haematological conditions and treatment options.

Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and treatment strategies.

Ensures compliance with local, national, and international regulations regarding blood banking and transfusion medicine.

Oversees the donor screening process, including donor eligibility screening, donation processing, and donor deferral criteria.

Communicated effectively with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and donors to ensure smooth operation of the blood bank and transfusion service.

**Specific Responsibilities:**

Coordinates with phlebotomists to schedule donations, manage donor flow, and ensure efficient collection of blood products.

Interprets test results for infectious disease markers (HIV-1/2, HBsAg, HCV, HTLV-I/II) and other tests (e.g., group-specific antibodies).

Prepared blood components according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality and safety.

 Investigated suspected transfusion reactions, performs root cause analysis (RCA), and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Identifies areas for improvement in blood banking processes and implements changes to enhance patient care and safety.

**Additional Responsibilities:**

Works closely with hematology-oncology services to coordinate patient care for patients receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

 Provided expert consultation to physicians regarding blood component selection, dosing recommendations, and treatment options for patients requiring transfusions.

Monitors quality control samples to ensure accuracy and precision in testing results.

Carries out tasks assigned by the competent authority.
