Requirements

Education

  • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) / MBS/ M. Com in Finance / Accounting or any other relevant subjects with a specialization in Finance / Accounting.

Experience

  • At least 5 years
  • The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
    NGO, Development Agency

Additional Requirements

  • Age at most 40 years
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar type of position, preferably in the NGO sector (specially experience to work UN supported Project).
  • Professional Certification (Partly CA, CPA, CMA etc.) will be an added advantage.
  • Strong financial analysis and budgeting skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software, especially Tally Prime and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to financial management.

Responsibilities & Context

The position will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the finance functions of the organization. This includes responsibility for budgeting, financial analysis, project financial management, reporting, etc. The position requires a strong background in finance and accounts, with the ability to handle multiple financial projects, provide strategic input to planning, and ensure compliance with organizational and donor requirements. The ideal candidate will possess the skills to develop financial strategies, implement best practices, and work as a member of Finance & Accounts team to ensure financial stability and growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management & Budgeting:
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in collaboration with senior management.
  • Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets, identifying trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, including payroll, vendor payments and others.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources and manage budget revisions when necessary.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management review.
  • Provide in-depth financial analysis and reports to assist in strategic decision-making.
  • Track and analyze financial data to identify areas for cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transparency in financial reporting.

Project Management:

  • Support project managers in preparing project budgets and financial plans.
  • Track and monitor project expenses to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Coordinate with project teams to provide financial insights and ensure that projects adhere to financial guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for donor-funded projects.

Systems & Software Management:

  • Utilize financial software to manage accounting processes, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Maintain and update financial systems to improve efficiency and financial tracking.
  • Train team members in the use of financial software and best practices in financial management.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead, mentor, and support the Finance & Accounts team to build capacity and ensure effective performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial alignment with organizational objectives and donor compliance.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, transparency, and accountability within the Finance & Accounts team.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide financial input and guidance.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including donors, partners, and auditors, to provide financial information as required.
  • Coordinate with banks and other financial institutions for the effective management of funds.
  • Respond to inquiries from management and stakeholders regarding financial data and performance.

Other Duties:

  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as needed to support the organization’s financial health.
  • Keep abreast of changes in financial regulations and best practices to maintain compliance and implement improvements.
  • Perform other financial and administrative tasks as required.
