Requirements

Education

Post Graduate in any related subject from any recognized university but LLB Degree will be preferred. Bachelor degree may be allowed for highly experience and qualified candidate. Certification/Training on land litigation/ land management will be preferred.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years

Additional Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in land management/ land related legal arena.

  • Ability to prepare chain of ownership by provided documents.

  • Good knowledge about land measurement, land mutation land registration, land ownership, land related papers/document and other assets.

  • Knowledge on land related legal matters; such as legal drafting, GD draft & filing, Suit stages, legal vetting etc.

  • Clear conception on Land related Act.

  • Very good knowledge in computer with excellent typing skill in English and Bengali.

  • Maintaining liaison with different stakeholder

  • Problem solving and decision making ability.

  • Able to work under pressure.

Job Purpose

Ensure legal compliance and minimize the risk of BRAC lands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure legal compliance before purchase of lands and maintain legal protection.

  • Ensure mutation of BRAC purchased land on timely manner.

  • Ensure timely payment of municipal taxes, Land Development Taxes, lease/license fees to the relevant authorities and to follow up to the land users (e.g. Manager, farm manager etc.)

  • Take initiative by submitting all necessary papers & documents properly by the field staff for including BRAC ‘s name in survey during the survey period

  • Take urgent steps for solving land related legal problems such as; recovering position of purchased land, resolving ownership, solve disputes and ensuring boundary of total land area.

  • Take initiative to file civil & criminal suits and cases, producing adequate documents to resolve land conflict and the follow up the existing suits and cases related to BRAC lands.

  • Collect original land deeds and documents (via deed, CS Khation, SA khatian, RS Khatian, DP Khation, City Jorip, Map, survey reports etc.) from respective registry/ land offices and to preserve those in Head office record room as per rules and to ensure keeping files with all document’s photocopies of land in field office properly.

  • Maintain liaison and communicate with Government/ Non- Government/ Semi -Government Offices and Local authority in relation to land operation.

  • Follow up and take care of civil suits pending in the Judge court and high court.

  • Ensure legal action against grabbers and false claimers of BRAC lands.

  • Implement of BRAC decisions to ensure dispose the unused land.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
