Responsibilities & Context

Job Overview:

The Deputy Managing Director supports the Managing Director in overseeing operations, strategic planning, and business development at the travel agency. This role focuses on driving growth through effective management, improving efficiency, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ensuring financial success. The Deputy also acts as second-in-command, assuming the Managing Director’s responsibilities when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the Managing Director to formulate and implement the agency’s business strategies and long-term growth plans.

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the agency meets its goals for revenue, profitability, and market share.

  • Assist in analyzing market trends, customer needs, and industry developments to maintain a competitive edge.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the senior management team, ensuring alignment with the agency’s objectives.

    Operational Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring all departments (sales, customer service, marketing, operations, etc.) function efficiently.

  • Develop and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance productivity and service quality.

  • Lead initiatives to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve operational effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant travel regulations and company policies.

    Business Development and Partnerships:

  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and markets to expand the agency’s portfolio of services.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including airlines, hotels, and other travel service providers.

  • Oversee the development and execution of marketing campaigns aimed at increasing the agency’s visibility and customer base.

  • Review and manage contracts and agreements with Suppliers.

  • Liaise with GDS & Airfare consolidators to integrate new contracts with APIs.

    Financial Management:

  • Work closely with the finance team to develop and manage the company’s budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure financial health.

  • Conduct regular financial analysis to track profitability, and implement corrective actions when necessary.

  • Ensure cost control measures are in place while maintaining service excellence.

    Customer Experience and Service Quality:

  • Oversee the development of customer service policies to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Monitor and respond to customer feedback, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.

  • Ensure that the agency offers innovative travel products and personalized experiences to attract and retain clients.

    Team Management and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and their teams, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and collaboration.

  • Participate in recruitment, training, and professional development programs for employees.

  • Promote a positive workplace culture that supports employee engagement, diversity, and inclusion.

    Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify potential risks (financial, operational, market) and implement strategies to mitigate them.

  • Ensure the agency complies with all legal, regulatory, and industry standards.

  • Handle crisis management situations as needed, particularly in dealing with travel disruptions or emergencies.
