The Deputy Project Coordinator will report directly to the Project Coordinator and will work closely with the field teams, NSS senior management, and the Concern Worldwide team.

Responsibilities & Context
Nazrul Smriti Sangsad-NSS is a non-government Humanitarian Organization working for advancement of poor men, women, children, youth, excluded people and person with disability since 2000.

Position Overview:
NSS is implementing the “Partnerships for Improved Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) in Coastal Bangladesh” project, funded by Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) and supported by Concern Worldwide.
This initiative aims to improve RMNCAH services in the coastal regions of Bangladesh, particularly at Taltali sub-district of Barguna district. The project duration is up to December 2026. NSS is seeking a competent and motivated Deputy Project Coordinator (DPC) to support the Project Coordinator in leading the project and ensuring that the activities are carried out in alignment with the project’s goals and objectives.
The Deputy Project Coordinator will play a critical role in assisting the Project Coordinator in the overall management, coordination, and monitoring of the project. The DPC will work closely with field teams, government health and family planning officials, and various stakeholders to ensure that project activities are implemented effectively and in accordance with the work plan and donor guidelines. The DPC will lead the local government initiatives of the project. The DPC will spend a substantial portion of time in the field, overseeing activities, building relationships with local communities and relevant government bodies, and ensuring the project’s impact on reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) services in the target area.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Implementation:

Assist the Project Coordinator in developing detailed activity plans and timelines for project implementation, ensuring that they align with the overall project objectives and donor requirements.

Coordinate and oversee day-to-day project activities, ensuring that all team members and field staff understand their roles and responsibilities.
-
Support the Project Coordinator in managing resources effectively, including human, financial, and logistical resources, to ensure efficient implementation of project activities.
Coordination and Liaison:
-
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Government Health and Family Planning officials, local government institutions (LGIs), civil society organizations, and community leaders.

Serve as the primary point of contact for field teams and other project staff, ensuring clear communication and coordination across all levels of the project.
-
Liaise with other NGOs and development partners operating in the health sector to identify potential areas of collaboration and avoid duplication of efforts.

Attend and actively participate in coordination meetings at the sub-district and district levels, representing the project and sharing updates on progress and challenges.
Monitoring and Field Supervision:

Conduct regular field visits (at least 70% of the time) to monitor the implementation of project activities and provide on-the-ground support to field staff.

Work closely with field staff to assess the quality of service delivery, ensuring that all RMNCAH-related activities are carried out to a high standard and in line with the project’s objectives.

Identify potential challenges and risks in the field, and work with the Project Coordinator and other team members to develop solutions.

Ensure that proper data collection and documentation are maintained for all project activities, allowing for effective monitoring and evaluation of the project’s impact.
Capacity Building and Staff Development:

Support the Project Coordinator in identifying capacity gaps among field staff and facilitators, and assist in designing and delivering appropriate training and capacity-building initiatives.

Ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out project activities, including organizing and facilitating training sessions on RMNCAH services, advocacy, and community engagement.

Provide continuous guidance and mentorship to field staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development within the project team.
Reporting and Documentation:

Assist the Project Coordinator in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports for submission to NSS management, Concern Worldwide, and other relevant stakeholders.

Ensure that all reports are accurate, timely, and reflect the current status of project activities, challenges, and achievements.
-
Contribute to the documentation of good practices, case studies, and lessons learned from the field, ensuring that these are shared with stakeholders to inform future programming.

Maintain accurate records of project activities, including financial documentation, meeting minutes, and field visit reports.
Financial and Administrative Support:
-
Work with the Project Coordinator and finance team to ensure that project expenditures are in line with the approved budget, and that all financial transactions are properly documented and accounted for.

Assist in preparing budget variance reports and in conducting regular budget reviews to ensure that funds are being utilized effectively.

Support the Project Coordinator in ensuring that procurement processes are followed in line with organizational and donor policies, including the procurement of materials and services needed for project implementation.
Community Engagement and Advocacy:

Support efforts to engage with local communities, raising awareness of RMNCAH services and encouraging community participation in the project.

Organize and facilitate community dialogues, workshops, and meetings to promote access to health services and to advocate for the health rights and entitlements of women, children, and adolescents in the project area.

Assist in developing and implementing advocacy strategies aimed at improving access to government health services and strengthening the local health system.
Compensation & Other Benefits
Salary: TK. 50,000 per month with other admissible benefits according to the project budget.
