  • At least 5 year of experience working in development projects in a relevant field (trafficking in persons, migration, rule of law, good governance, access to justice, etc.); USAID or other international donor experience preferred
  • Candidate with sound knowledge on local government and their working mechanism, experiences on coordination with panel lawyers, volunteers and Stakeholders will get preference.
  • Good working knowledge of office software packages preferably with Microsoft Office 365
  • Good attention to detail and ability to organize
  • Good skills in speaking/reading/writing in Bangla and English.
  • Also should be good in email communication.
  • Female candidates will be given preference.

Responsibilities & Context

Bangladesh Society for the Enforcement of Human Rights- BSEHR is a nonprofit organization that works with people in the Bangladesh to empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity and sustain natural resources. By linking local individuals and communities with new ideas and technology, BSEHR is increasing long-term productivity, equity, and responsible resource management to benefit the poor and disadvantages of the country. In this context, BSEHR is implementing USAID’s Fight Slavery and Trafficking in Persons- FSTIP activity (Prevention, Protection and Prosecution) with technical support from Winrock International.

FSTIP Activity Context

Human trafficking is a major problem in Bangladesh, which is a source, transit, and destination country for men, women and children trafficked into forced labor, commercial sexual exploitation, child marriage and other abusive situations. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated vulnerabilities to trafficking, exploitation, and child marriage, as widespread loss of livelihood opportunities and employment, restrictions on legal migration channels, and reduced access to survivor services increased the complexities of identifying and preventing human trafficking, exploitation, and child marriage. USAID’s Fight Slavery and Trafficking-in-Persons (FSTIP) activity works in 25 Bangladesh districts through collaboration with national, regional and local governments, survivor service provider networks, legal rights groups, civil society organizations, and committed partners. The goal: reducing vulnerability to trafficking-in-persons, child marriage and related exploitation through the “4Ps” approach: 1) Prosecution; 2) Prevention; 3) Protection; and 4) Partnership

Goals and Objectives

Goal: To ensure justice for TIP and child marriage survivors and increase the capacity for service providing actors and like-minded organizations. The Specific objectives of the project are:

  • Strengthen case management and follow-up mechanisms for TIP, CM cases.
  • To ensure compensation for TIP survivors, live skill development as well as rehabilitating to the society.
  • Strengthen special Anti Human Trafficking Tribunal and Women and Children violence Suppression Tribunal to expedite trials of trafficking cases.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The “District Coordinator” will be responsible for coordinating, organizing and facilitating key activities at the field level under the USAID’s Fight Slavery and Trafficking in Persons- FSTIP (Prosecution) project. S/he will work closely with the stake holders, panel lawyers, volunteers, Human Rights defenders, local police, Thana, Court and beneficiaries of BSEHR. Additionally, the person will be responsible for doing any other tasks assigned by the management.

  • S/he will support the manager to manage project’s activities in the work areas throughout the whole project cycle (identification and formulation, preparation of agreements and contracts, follow up of implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and dissemination of results).
  • S/he will design, organize and facilitate different trainings, campaigns, conferences, workshops etc.S/he will maintain coordination with other NGOs/organizations and stakeholders linking with other development projects.
  • Assist/conduct mediation meetings as and when necessary at the community level.
  • Raise concern on legal matters and if necessary then refer cases to the Panel Lawyers.
  • Maintain records of engaged Panel Lawyers. Prepare monthly/quarterly/half yearly/yearly legal statements/reports regarding applications received, mediation, and case studies as per guidelines.
  • Keeping accurate data on managing cases and updating the Case Management System (CMS) regularly.
  • Conduct/organize/attend meetings, workshops, seminars, and trainings
  • S/he will be responsible for managing field level data collection, data compilation and provide inputs to prepare case studies, other communication, knowledge and reporting.
  • S/he will be responsible for promote access to legal service for underserved communities.
  • S/he will monitor project progress and quality, and report on project as a core part of continuous learning throughout the project lifetime.
  • S/he will build rapport and professional relation with the other District Coordinators along with relevant district, chapter of BSEHR, BMET/ DEMO, local government, civil society, private organizations, and individuals.
  • Have to travel frequently for project implementation.
  • Undertake any specific work as assigned by the manager and/or Practical Action’s authority as per need of the organization.
