Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree in any subject.
  • Preferably in Law, Development Studies/Disaster Management/Environmental Science/Geography and Environment from a recognized University.

Experience

  • At least 5 years

Additional Requirements

  • At least 05 years’ experience in the development field with two years in the relevant field (legal aid/access to justice).
  • Knowledge and experience on anticipatory action, Legal Aid Services Act, 2000 and Access to Justice.
  • Demonstrate very strong leadership and management skills and ability to work in the team.
  • Sound knowledge of project cycle management.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Good working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors and allies.
  • Excellent communication skills including a high level of written and spoken English.
  • Conversant in common IT applications (MS word, MS power point, MS excel, Graphic design, Internet browsing & e-mail communications).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities & Context

Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) <www.ypsa.org> is an organization for sustainable development working in the greater Chattogram division since 1985. YPSA is going implementing a project on “The Ain Shohayota Activity” in Chattogram Division (Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Feni and Rangamati) in partnership with Democracy International. YPSA is inviting application from experienced professionals with proven track records for the following position for the Project.

Duration: 1st September 2024 to 30 April 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective implementation of project at the district level. Ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and budget.
  • Manage and guide project staffs, paralegals, and support staff. Conduct regular meetings, provide guidance, and ensure the team is working efficiently towards the project objectives.
  • Track project progress, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare detailed reports for project authority. Conduct regular field visits to assess the quality and effectiveness of legal aid services.
  • Collaborate with local government, law enforcement, judiciary, DLAC, UZLAC, UPLAC, Legal NGO and community organizations to strengthen legal aid systems. Establish strong networks for advocacy and project support.
  • Organize training sessions, workshops, and awareness programs for DLAC, Judges, UZALC, UPLAC and the public on legal rights, justice mechanisms, legal aid services act 2000 and available legal aid services.
  • Manage the district-level budget, optimize the use of available resources, and identify opportunities for additional funding and resources.
  • Arrange community outreach programs to raise awareness about legal aid services and access to justice.
  • Oversee the management of legal aid cases, ensuring timely and effective resolution. Ensure that vulnerable groups have access to free legal representation and advice.
  • Regularly update project leadership and donor organizations on project status, challenges, and recommendations for improvement. Ensure transparency in all district-level operations.
  • Ensure that the project activities comply with the policies and regulations of the donor and the organization.
  • Supervise, monitor the work of upazilla coordinators and accountable the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to stakeholders and funding bodies, documenting progress and challenges.
  • Maintain child and gender-sensitive approach in all stages and maintain safeguarding measure.
  • Any other task assigned by the Management.
