Requirements

Education

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Paediatrics
Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Paediatrics
Valid BMDC registration is mandatory.
Minimum 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in Pediatrics Critical Care, preferably with substantial PICU experience.

Experience

5 to 7 years

Strong clinical decision-making and leadership ability.

Excellent knowledge of pediatric critical care protocols and emergency management.

Competence in advanced airway and life-support management.

Ability to remain calm and make timely decisions in high-pressure situations.

Commitment to ethical, patient-centered, and evidence-based care.

Responsibilities & Context

Provide consultant-level assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of critically ill pediatric patients.

Lead daily PICU rounds and develop individualized management plans for patients.

Manage pediatric emergencies, respiratory failure, septic shock, multi-organ dysfunction, trauma, and post-operative critical illness.

Supervise and perform advanced PICU procedures, including airway management, endotracheal intubation, central/arterial line placement, and mechanical ventilation, as clinically appropriate.

Lead pediatric resuscitation and respond to medical emergencies within the hospital.

Monitor and manage patients requiring invasive and non-invasive ventilation, hemodynamic support, and other critical care interventions.

Coordinate closely with Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Nursing, and other relevant specialties.

Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and training to junior doctors and PICU staff.

Communicate effectively with patients’ parents/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, prognosis, and critical care decisions.

Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation and compliance with hospital policies and clinical protocols.

Participate in clinical audit, morbidity and mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs.

Contribute to CME, teaching, training, research, and professional development activities.

Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, ethical, and clinical governance standards.
