  • Should be well versed on community nutrition program (camp experience prefers)Knowledge and experience of early childhood care and development (ECCD) programs and techniques, theory and practice.
  • Good command of at least one psychotherapeutic approach – training and case management aptitudes and knowledge of humanitarian MHPSS
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathize with all beneficiaries and their cares.
  • Should have the capability of interpersonal communication skills, especially on proficiency in speaking in English.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Reporting to the ECCD and MPHSS supervisor this incumbent is responsible for center-based implementation and monitoring of ECCD service delivery in INF and also answer to the identified needs on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) issues. By providing, awareness raising session on ECCD and MPHSS at community level, direct psychological and psychosocial support to the beneficiaries, produce regular reports on activities, assessments and follow-up.
  • Focus on child friendly and age appropriate ECCD (play that develop their physics, their minds and their creativity). Support timely, quality & consolidated ECCD programme development and planning. Ensure that all material is counted for, in good condition and stored tidy and securely. Support and guide to children to use and explore during learning and play activities in ECCD zone with materials tools and resources. Sharing the importance of ECCD to mothers/caregivers. Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents. Follow and ensure the safety of the ECCD zone and ECCD kitEnsure that all children arrive are properly registered and have safe care as long as they stay there.Follow up on children’s absence. Ensure that health, nutrition and hygiene are promoted in the sites
  • Identify Psychological, emotional and behavioral difficulties; diagnose; develop action plan and provide psychological and psychosocial support at individual, group and family level. Refer beneficiaries with specific needs of specialized psychological support to external services and follow-up on all referrals. Organize and implement more specific psychosocial support activities through different methods including mediation activities, creative or recreational activities, group discussions, group daily activities, etc. Observe and intervene in order to understand the part Care practices plays in the causes of malnutrition and the barriers to a good acceptance of the treatment. Organize and animate sessions for mother – child dyads in difficulty (e.g. psychosocial stimulation through play, massage, etc.). Produce educational and alertness support media for children (individual or collective inside and outdoor games, drawings, songs, dances, plays, toy making, etc.). Favor the child’s psychomotor growth. Contribute to the mapping of relevant actors (referral network) and set up of referral systems to other services available
  • Staff Management: Foster a collaborative work environment where mutual respect among staff is emphasized. Builds and maintains effective relationships, with nutrition team, colleagues, members Report timely any problem related to staff management to the ECCD and MPHSS Supervisor.
  • Capacity Development: Capacity-building coaching to the mothers/caregivers of children aged below 5 years. Provide MHPSS counselling to the mothers/caregivers of children aged below 5 years.
  • Reporting: Work with field teams to collect information on potential case studies and success stories.Write specific reports for critical cases. An inventory list must be made monthly by using register book.Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports as requested and timely submit to ECCD and MPHSS Supervisor. Other assigned task/s report by supervisor.
  • Coordination and Collaboration: Communicate and coordinate with the staff and volunteers to send the beneficiaries to the ECCD and MHPSS corner. To inform the ECCD and MPHSS Supervisor timely about any planned or conducted coordination meetings.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Lesson Learning: Monitor the child and caregiver’s activities during the period on ECCD and MHPSS corner. Make toys and games available that are clean and in good conditionMaintain coordination with the MEAL team to evaluate program performances and support the PM to arrange lesson learning workshop to set up improvement plan for the future.
  • Others: Respect strict confidentiality. Proactively support commitments to gender equality, child protection, and disability sensitivity. Implement all work-related activities with a gender, disability, and child protection lens. Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged based on their gender or limited due to manageable disability.
