  • Experience working with marginalized communities, particularly in the Rohingya refugee context, is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience with the EMAP methodology or similar programs is a significant asset.
  • Proficiency in Bangla and English.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

  • Nari Maitree (NM), a well-established women-led NGO with 42 years of dedicated service in Bangladesh, is launching an exciting new project, “Together We Lead,” in partnership with UN Women. This initiative aims to foster positive shifts in gender norms among forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya) and host communities in Cox’s Bazar. We are seeking passionate and skilled individuals to join our team in our Cox’s Bazar Office and contribute to this impactful work, building upon Nari Maitree’s extensive experience across various development sectors.

Supervision and Mentorship of EMAP Facilitators:

  • Provide direct supervision and ongoing mentorship to Gender Volunteers who are facilitating EMAP groups.Conduct regular site visits to observe EMAP sessions and provide constructive feedback to facilitators.
  • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly coaching sessions with facilitators to address challenges, share best practices, and enhance facilitation skills.
  • Ensure facilitators understand and adhere to the EMAP curriculum, principles, and guidelines.

EMAP Implementation Quality Assurance:

  • Monitor the quality of EMAP sessions through observation, review of facilitator reports, and feedback from participants.
  • Ensure that EMAP sessions are interactive, participatory, and create a safe space for critical self-reflection among male participants.
  • Provide guidance on adapting EMAP activities to the specific cultural context of Rohingya and host communities.
  • Ensure that the voices and perspectives of women are integrated into men’s discussions to promote accountability.

Training and Capacity Building:

  • Participate in the initial EMAP training and Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions.
  • Provide ongoing refresher training and capacity-building support to EMAP facilitators as needed.
  • Support the Gender Officer and Capacity Development Officer in developing and adapting EMAP-related training materials.

Community Engagement and Coordination:

  • Support Gender Volunteers in their community mobilization efforts to introduce and promote EMAP.
  • Liaise with community leaders and members to build support for EMAP and address any concerns.
  • Coordinate with other project staff and relevant stakeholders to ensure the integration of EMAP with other project activities.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Collect data on EMAP implementation, including attendance, session progress, and challenges.
  • Review and analyze facilitator reports and CommCare entries to track progress and identify trends.
  • Contribute to the development of regular progress reports on EMAP activities for the Project Officer and Gender Officer.
  • Assist in the analysis of EMAP pre- and post-questionnaires.

Documentation and Learning:

  • Ensure proper documentation of EMAP sessions, including attendance records, facilitator reports, and key learnings.
  • Contribute to the identification and documentation of best practices and lessons learned from EMAP implementation.
  • Participate in reflection meetings and contribute to program adaptation based on field experiences.

Safeguarding:

  • Adhere to Nari Maitree’s safeguarding and PSEA policies and procedures in all aspects of work.
  • Promote a safe and respectful environment for all project participants.
  • Report any safeguarding concerns or incidents promptly.
