Responsibilities & Context

Uttaran is an NGO that has been operating in Bangladesh since 1985 with the mission to uphold the rights and entitlements of the poor and disadvantaged communities and to improve their socio-economic conditions. Uttaran adopts a people-centred approach, utilising a rights-based framework to alleviate poverty, diversify livelihood opportunities, and empower marginalised communities across Bangladesh.

Role and Scope

Uttaran is seeking a dynamic “Employment Services Expert “for an upcoming project aimed at expanding access to skills development and employability for NEET youth, with a strong emphasis on gender diversity, ethnicity, and Persons with Special Needs (PwSN). This initiative prioritizes female participation in the national workforce through interventions such as alternative education, skills training, employment support, institutional capacity-building, and the creation of an enabling environment. The project also integrates a Contingent Emergency Response Component to enhance adaptability and resilience. The overarching goal is to empower NEET youth by strengthening their skills, promoting continued education, and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in skill development and job replacement programs for youths.
• Possess experience in bolstering innovative business models centered around the creation and exchange of intellectual assets within the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and related industries.
• Demonstrate proficiency in crafting a deployable human resource pool for designated trades by enhancing job-readiness factors.
• Capable of facilitating youth participation in pertinent industries, particularly focusing on female and disadvantaged group engagement through targeted training, provision of career information and advice, and enhancing employer hiring processes especially in EZs, EPZs, IZs, HTPs, and STPs.
• Proficient in establishing connections between the youths and the business community by leveraging the mentors for the provision of career advice and guidance Should have work experience in concerned division and local level language proficiency for ensuring better communication with beneficiaries.
