Requirements

Education

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Environmental Science, Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Chemistry, Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemical Technical/Engineering

Certification:

• Applicants having related professional training/certificate will be an added advantage

Experience

Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

• The primary objective of this position is to contribute to the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015) by ensuring full compliance with applicable local and international environmental laws, regulations, and corporate environmental objectives.
• The role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining proper operating procedures within the scope of the Gildan plant operations, promoting environmental sustainability, and supporting the organization’s continuous improvement initiatives.

Environmental Management System (EMS) Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015) and Gildan Quality System (GQS) requirements related to job functions.
• Understand and implement quality system documentation, work methods, and internal and external customer expectations related to processes, products, or services.

Environmental Compliance:

• Execute and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

Support for Online Platforms and Audits:

• Assist with self-assessments and audits for platforms such as Higg FEM, Oeko-Tex STeP, SMETA, KPMG, and other corporate requirements.

Chemical Handling and Storage:

• Conduct regular site inspections for approved chemical handling, usage, storage, inventory, labeling, and SDS translation as per ZDHC CMS and brand requirements.

Regulatory Compliance and Permit Renewals:

• Coordinate and oversee environmental operations to ensure regulatory compliance and timely permit renewals.

Waste Disposal and Treatment:

• Oversee waste disposal and treatment programs.

Site Inspections:

• Perform regular site inspections for environmental compliance, particularly in hazardous waste storage areas.

Cross-Functional Team Collaboration:

• Work with cross-functional teams to maintain environmental management and monitoring programs.

Resource Monitoring:

• Monitor electrical and natural gas consumption, water usage, influent and treated effluent amounts, water outlets, and chemical usage.

Environmental Analysis:

• Conduct environmental analyses for stack and point source air emissions, ambient air, ODS inventory, sound, drinking water, wastewater, and effluent.
