Responsibilities & Context

1. Creative Direction & Vision:

  • Set the Vision: Develop and communicate the overall creative vision for the brand, ensuring it aligns with market trends and the company’s goals.
  • Trend Forecasting: Stay updated with global fashion trends, cultural shifts, and consumer behavior to influence future collections.
  • Innovative Design: Lead the design team to create innovative and trendsetting collections that reflect the brand’s identity.

2. Team Leadership:

  • Manage Design Team: Oversee and mentor the design team, including fashion designers, textile designers, and pattern makers, ensuring they meet creative and production deadlines.
  • Talent Development: Identify and nurture talent within the design team, providing opportunities for growth and development.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as marketing, sales, and production to ensure cohesive product development.

3. Collection Development:

  • Concept Development: Initiate and guide the concept development for seasonal collections, ensuring it aligns with brand strategy.
  • Design Approval: Review and approve all designs, ensuring they meet the brand’s aesthetic, quality standards, and market needs.
  • Material Selection: Oversee the selection of fabrics, materials, and trims, ensuring they are in line with the design concept and budget.

4. Production Oversight:

  • Sample Development: Oversee the creation of prototypes and samples, making necessary adjustments to ensure designs are production-ready.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that the final products meet the company’s quality standards before mass production.
  • Cost Management: Work with the production team to manage costs and ensure that designs are feasible for production within budget constraints.

5. Brand Representation:

  • Public Relations: Represent the brand at industry events, fashion shows, and press conferences, showcasing the brand’s collections.
  • Client & Buyer Interaction: Work with key clients, buyers, and retailers to present collections and gather feedback.

6. Strategic Planning:

  • Market Research: Conduct market research to understand customer needs and preferences, using this data to guide future collections.
  • Sales Analysis:Analyze sales data and customer feedback to refine and improve future designs.
  • Sustainability & Ethics: Ensure the design process adheres to ethical and sustainable practices, aligning with industry standards and consumer expectations.
