Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Social Science, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or any other relevant discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience
- At least 2 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): NGO
Additional Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in project implementation, preferably in the development or NGO sector.
- Experience working on Sundarbans area, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, women’s empowerment, or community development projects is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Sundarbans ecosystem will be considered an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with local communities, government officials, and other stakeholders.
- Good understanding of community-based development approaches and participatory methodologies.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of data collection tools and monitoring systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet applications.
- Ability to write clear and concise field reports, case studies, and documentation in both Bangla and English.
- Willingness to travel frequently to remote areas and engage directly with communities.

Responsibilities & Context
Job context:
- LEDARS (Local Environment Development and Agricultural Research Society), an NGO registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau, has been working in Bangladesh`s climate-vulnerable southwest coastal region since 1996. The region faces severe challenges due to the adverse impacts of climate change, affecting the lives and livelihoods of local communities. As part of its continued mission to climate resilience and community development, LEDARS is going to implement a project at Sundarbans Landscape Zone at Shyamnagar Upazila in Satkhira district entitles “RESCUE” (Resilient Ecosystems & Sustainable Communities to Uphold the Sundarbans Environment) funded by GIZ. As part of this program, LEDARS is going to appoint a proactive and experienced individuals for the position of Field Officer. This is a Field level position and will play a key role in the day-to-day implementation, Facilitation, coordination, and monitoring of field-level activities under the program. The selected candidates will be responsible for ensuring effective program delivery in alignment with organizational goals, donor requirements, and the needs of local communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing program activities at the community level by program work plans and Program Implementation Guideline (PIG).
- Coordinate with Forest department, Co-management Committee (CMC), Peoples Forum, Village Conservation Forum (VCF), Resource User Groups, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of project interventions.
- Facilitate field activities regularly, collect data, and provide timely updates to the Program Manager or relevant supervisors.
- Facilitate monthly meetings of VCF and Resource User groups, capacity-building events, and training workshops as required.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports by providing accurate field data, success stories, and case studies.
- Ensure proper documentation of program activities and maintain organized records for monitoring and audit purposes.
- Identify implementation challenges and report any field-level issues or risks to the management team for timely resolution.
- Promote and ensure the integration of gender equality, disability inclusion, and safeguarding policies throughout all program activities.
- Actively contribute to community-based climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction activities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or organizational management to support the achievement of program objectives.
