Responsibilities & Context

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement & Planning:

• Conduct village-level risk assessments and local planning sessions.
• Organize and facilitate community awareness events, such as courtyard meetings, folk songs, and dramas.
• Identify common community resources and assess gaps (e.g., ponds, canals, shelters, health camps).
• Support the formation/reformation of WDMCs and ensure youth participation.

Education Module Development:

• Support the development and piloting of interactive learning modules for primary school students.
• Assist in conducting workshops and collecting feedback from teachers and students on the modules.

Mangrove-Related Activities:

• Coordinate and assist in mangrove plantation activities, including gap filling and fencing to ensure sustainability.
• Work with Mangrove Caretakers to support nursery establishment, maintenance, and planting schedules.
• Distribute garden tools and provide technical support to caretakers during training sessions.

Community Engagement & Advocacy:

• Facilitate issue-based advocacy at the local level, aligning with the guidance provided by ministries and the expert pool.
• Organize community awareness sessions to promote mangrove conservation and other project initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Work with the expert pool to collect insights and ensure community-level understanding of policy recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Environmental Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in community mobilization or field facilitation roles.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills in local languages.
• Knowledge of disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and community-based planning.
