Additional Requirements
EXPERIENCE & Skill:
- At least three years of work experience in refugee camps or host communities in emergency response, specifically including data collection and cash/Non-Food Items distribution, including LPG.
- Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups; and,
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organizations in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous.
- Strong coordination, negotiation, mobilizing, and facilitation skills;
- Proficient in computer applications will be an advantage;
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision;
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team of colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds.
Languages:
- Fluency in Bangla and working knowledge of English (oral and written).
- Local Chittagonian language will be considered as an advantage.
Responsibilities & Context
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Respond to emergency response activities with shelter activities according to the IOM procedures.
- Coordinate and provide general assistance in the implementation of project activities, e.g., data collection (for assessment, project monitoring as post-distribution monitoring), distribution, training, shelter upgrade, quality control of construction materials, and monitoring of labor in camps, the host communities and the Bamboo Treatment Facility.
- Lead a team of volunteers in charge of regular activities of Shelter/NFI and keep their daily work record, and ensure all activities are implemented as per IOM guidelines.
- Coordinate the activities assigned to the Enroute field staff team and liaise with the IOM supervisor for instructions, daily reporting, and timely communication of any challenges identified.
- Facilitate community meetings and other form of participatory approaches such as cash for work in relation to site-level care and maintenance activities, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and safety audit/mapping with IOM supervisor’s instructions.
- Support to produce relevant documentation (attendance sheet, agenda, meeting minutes in English, Bengali and local language as required).
- Support the IOM Shelter teams in implementing a community-based complaint and feedback mechanism at the camp level.
- Maintain good professional relationships with community representatives, Site Management, NGO partners, Camp in Charge, local government, and other relevant actors.
- Supervise the implementation of construction activities within Shelter/NFI programmes, and as per technical instructions from the responsible IOM team
- Assist in the daily monitoring of Shelter/NFI stocks at storage areas, construction sites, and distribution points. Organize and supervise labor teams for the loading and unloading of materials.
- Report to the line supervisor at the end of each day with an update on the assigned task.
- Strictly adhere to the IOM Standards of Conduct.
- Perform any other task asked by the supervisor as appropriate.
Compensation & Other Benefits
Monthly gross salary for this position is BDT 38,080.25.
