Responsibilities & Context

Job Context:

Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) is looking for a suitable candidate for the position of ‘Finance Officer’ for ‘Bangladesh-America Maitree Project’ which is finance by USAID and supported by BRAC. The project duration is November 12, 2024 to November 11, 2027. The theme of the project is to prevention of child marriage and gender based violence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain detailed budgets for the project, ensuring that funds are allocated according to project needs and priorities;
  • Track expenditures against the approved budget to ensure that the project stays within financial limits;
  • Highlight any discrepancies and propose corrective actions when necessary;
  • Estimate future financial requirements for project activities, ensuring that adequate funds are available to meet the project’s goals without delays;
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records for all project activities;
  • Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions, including contracts, agreements, and financial reports;
  • This documentation must comply with organizational policies and donor requirements;
  • Oversee the management of petty cash for small project-related expenses, ensuring that it is handled responsibly and tracked appropriately;
  • Prepare and submit regular financial reports to the project manager, senior management, and donors;
  • Ensure compliance with local tax and VAT laws and regulations, including filing necessary tax returns, ensuring deductions are made and reported, and handling any audits or inspections;
  • Assist in the financial management of contracts with vendors, service providers, and consultants.
