Overview

Research Triangle Institute (RTI) has over 30 years’ experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector. As a not-for-profit, independent research institute based in North Carolina, USA, RTI has roughly 6,000 employees with global experience implementing international development projects. RTI’s Global Health Division (GHD) within the International Development Group, works in Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases; Global Health Security and Public Preparedness; Heath Systems Strengthening – including Health Governance, Health Finance, Human Resources for Health, Capacity Building, and Health Policy and Advocacy; and Integrated Care – including Reproductive, Maternal, and Child Health and Family Planning. We address a range of public health problems to reduce disparities, lower disease burdens, and build locally owned sustainable health programs in lower- and middle-income countries.

Responsibilities

RTI is seeking a Finance Officer in Bangladesh. The position is responsible for ensuring appropriate systems and procedures (payroll, cash management, vendor payments, budgeting, and other related expenditures) are followed to properly disburse, account, budget and report project funds which are cost effective, timely, have proper internal controls, and comply with the terms of the agreement. This position will report to the Senior Finance Manager.

Position is contingent upon award and funding. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare monthly financial statements for submission to RTI home office before required deadline
  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Calculate payroll for RTI staff, ensure proper withholding of taxes and statutory deductions.
  • Prepare and send staff pay slips
  • Prepare documents for remittance of taxes and statutory deductions and payments to the government funds.
  • Make corrective journal entries when needed.
  • In the times when project Accountant is on leave or during the surge times of payment transactions, review vendors invoices, grantees advance requests and other payables, and record expenses in QuickBooks, ensuring proper supporting documentation and compliance with RTI policies and procedures.
  • Make entries into Kyriba bank management system for payroll payments to staff and to government funds, other payments as needed
  • Initiate checks writing.
  • Make monthly and surprise counts of petty cash fund managed by the Accountant
  • Support annual and quarterly project budgeting.
  • In cooperation with program and operational leads, estimate monthly cash needs and prepare a request for wire transfers from RTI Treasury.
  • Monitor monthly/quarterly expenditures by project components, comparing them with approved budgets and providing budget analysis results to Senior Finance Manager.
  • In cooperation with Operations personnel, estimate quarterly, and, when needed-monthly, accruals.
  • Prepare annual VAT report, per USAID requirements.
  • Coordinate recording project cost share from partners and counterparts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
