• Experience: Specifically working with young women’s fashion or body-fit garments including 3D fitting.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in garment fitting, pattern-making software (Gerber), and garment construction. Strong knowledge of body measurements, fabric properties, and how they affect fit.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and the ability to identify and solve complex fitting issues quickly and effectively.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Summary:

The Fit Engineer for Young Women’s Body Fit Garments will be responsible for ensuring that garments are designed and manufactured to provide the best possible fit, comfort, and style for the target customer base. This role requires expertise in garment fitting, body measurements, fabric behavior, and an understanding of young women’s fashion trends. The Fit Engineer will collaborate with designers, pattern makers, and product developers to create a seamless and flattering fit that meets the demands of USA young female customers.

This Fit Engineer role is integral to ensuring that young women’s body-fit garments meet both functional and aesthetic needs and aligns with our USA base customer’s commitment to providing stylish, comfortable, and well-fitting apparel for all body types.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fit Testing: Conduct fit sessions on live models (preferably within the age range of USA young women’s demographic), assess fit, and recommend necessary garment adjustments for optimal comfort, appearance, and performance.
• Measurement Analysis: Take accurate body measurements of live models to assess the fit and alignment with sizing standards, ensuring that Target’s sizing is consistent and appropriate for the target demographic.
• Garment Adjustments: Work with the design and pattern teams to suggest alterations in pattern pieces based on fit evaluations and industry standards. Ensure garment design accommodates body types, movements, and proportions commonly seen in young women.
• Fit Documentation: Create detailed reports on each garment’s fit, including adjustments made, feedback from models, and suggestions for improvements. Maintain clear documentation of fit tests for future reference.
• Trend and Market Analysis: Stay up to date on the latest fashion trends, especially in body-fit clothing for young women, and provide insights on fit preferences based on market research, competitor analysis, and customer feedback.
• Fabric Testing: Evaluate fabric behavior and its impact on the overall fit, drape, and comfort of garments. Work with fabric suppliers and testing labs to ensure the chosen materials align with Target’s standards for quality and fit.
• Collaboration: Work closely with own design teams, customer technical designers, product developers, and production teams to ensure the correct fit is achieved throughout the garment development process.
• Size Scaling: Understand how fit varies across sizes and ensure size grading provides a consistent fit for all body types within the young women’s segment. Test fit for both standard and plus-size ranges if applicable.
• Fit Standards Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of USA customer proprietary fit standards for young women’s clothing to ensure consistent fit across different product lines.
• Quality Assurance: Perform final fit checks during pre-production samples to ensure garments meet both aesthetic and functional criteria before mass production begins.
