Responsibilities & Context

Job Context: A reputed buying house is seeking a Garments Technician to ensure high-quality standards in garment production. The role involves collaborating with designers and merchandisers to develop and approve samples, conducting fit evaluations, and overseeing fabric testing. The Garment Technologist will also monitor production, implement quality control, and ensure compliance with international standards. Key Responsibilities:

Product Development & Technical Support

Work closely with designers and merchandisers to develop garment samples.
Ensure that garments meet buyer specifications, quality standards, and fit requirements.
Provide technical advice on fabrics, construction, and production techniques.

Fit & Sample Approval

Review and evaluate garment samples for fit, construction, and workmanship.
Conduct fit sessions and provide feedback for necessary alterations.
Approve samples before bulk production and ensure they align with buyer requirements.

Fabric & Trim Testing

Ensure that all fabrics, trims, and accessories meet required standards and performance criteria.
Conduct or arrange for fabric testing (e.g., shrinkage, colorfastness, strength).
Work with suppliers to resolve any fabric-related issues.

Quality Control & Compliance

Implement quality control measures throughout the production process.
Conduct pre-production meetings with factories to ensure technical specifications are followed.
Ensure compliance with international and buyer-specific quality standards.

Production Process Monitoring

Monitor garment production to ensure consistency in quality and workmanship
Identify and address technical issues during production to avoid defects.
Work with factories to improve efficiency and minimize production faults.

Technical Documentation & Spec Sheets

Create and maintain technical packs, including detailed specifications and construction guidelines.
Update and manage grading and pattern adjustments for different sizes
Ensure all documentation is accurate and shared with relevant teams.

Problem-Solving & Supplier Coordination

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to garment production.
Work with suppliers and factories to develop innovative solutions for production challenges.
Ensure that all technical specifications are clearly communicated and understood.
