Responsibilities & Context
Job Context:
The Head of Maintenance is responsible for leading and managing the maintenance department of a garments manufacturing facility. This role ensures the efficient operation and reliability of all mechanical systems and machinery, including sewing machines, fabric processing equipment, and other essential production tools. The ideal candidate will lead a team of maintenance engineers and technicians, implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, and uphold safety and compliance standards to minimize downtime and maximize production
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of all mechanical & electrical machinery and related systems, ensuring maximum uptime and productivity.
- Lead the erection, commissioning, and integration of new spinning units and equipment with a focus on layout efficiency, utility planning, and energy conservation.
- Plan, supervise, and maintain gas & diesel generators, electrical substations, transformers, HT/LT panels, ATS, PFI, AVR systems, and compressed air systems to ensure uninterrupted utility services.
- Manage the operation, inspection, and efficiency optimization of boilers, exhaust gas boilers (EGB), and HVAC systems.
- Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of lifts, solar systems, air conditioning units, and humidification systems.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize machine downtime and reduce spare part costs.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of Single Line Diagrams (SLD), Electrical Layout Diagrams (ELD), and Lightning Protection Systems (LPS)
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers and technicians across electrical, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
- Set KPIs, allocate tasks, and evaluate team performance to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage maintenance budgets, control spare parts inventory, and oversee the procurement of tools and components.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, enforce safety standards, and ensure compliance with environmental and industrial regulations.
- Analyze maintenance data and reports to identify inefficiencies and recommend optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to enhance machine performance and yarn output.
- Support automation, modernization, and digital transformation initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
- Lead factory audits and ensure full compliance with regulatory bodies and safety organizations such as RSC (Accord), RCC (DIFE), Nirapon (Alliance), and relevant international standards including LEED, BSCI, FAIR WEAR, WRAP, and OEKO-TEX.
- Coordinate and supervise structural, fire, and electrical safety audits across spinning facilities.
- Maintain 100% compliance in regulatory documentation and liaise timely with governmental and utility authorities such as Titas Gas, RAJUK, WASA, Boiler Office, and Ministry of Labor.
