Responsibilities & Context

  • We are seeking an innovative and technically strong Head of R&D – Woven Fabrics to lead development of new fabric concepts, finishes, and performance enhancements for a modern woven dyeing & finishing facility.
  • This role focuses on fabric innovation, sustainable compositions, product performance, and process optimization—driving the company’s next-generation woven fabric strategy. The ideal candidate must have deep expertise in fabric constructions, yarn engineering, dyeing/ finishing technologies, chemistry, and global textile trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the company’s quality vision, strategy, and technical procedures to meet operational goals.
  • Coordinate fabric approvals for quality and color from buyers, including base hangers, lab dips, shade-offs, handlooms, wash approvals, and bulk hangers.
  • Assist in risk assessments for new developments and bulk orders under the guidance f the Senior Technologist or HOD.
  • Review fabric test reports to ensure compliance with customer safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain daily communication with customer fabric technologists and buying teams, providing timely feed back.
  • Monitor testing turnaround times and work with suppliers to improve first-time pass rates.
  • Ensure accurate interpretation of technical standards and test requirements through regular supplier communication.
  • Manage wash approvals such as blanket approvals and shade band confirmations.
  • Guide suppliers on fabric and wash specifications; troubleshoot bulk issues related to fabric and wash.
  • Participate in fabric development and sourcing, offering technical support throughout the process.
  • Operate customer testing portals (e.g., NIS, ERP) and manage in-house wash testing.
  • Follow up with supplier wash plants to ensure timely wash approvals.
  • Track fabric CPs in alignment with garment delivery schedules.
