  • As the GM of Marketing & Merchandising the candidate must have the ability to build a buying company right from scratch to a successful leading company within a reasonable period.
  • He must have the ability to communicate, to interact directly with the foreign buyers, buyer’s liaison offices as well as with all local buying offices located both in the country and abroad, for which he must possess an excellent communication skill.
  • He must have very good knowledge about pricing of any type of garment’s products and can negotiate with the buyers to achieve the deal successfully.
  • He must be capable of making all kinds of production planning, so that, it can make sure the successful execution of orders with desired quality and quantities.
  • He must have the ability to lead a marketing and merchandising team in such a way, so that all team members can contribute a successful effort under his leadership, in terms of qualities, timely productions which must lead to a successful accomplishment. Therefore, leadership quality is a mandatory requirement here.
  • He must have the ability to focus not only on planning, but successful execution too.
  • He must act as a successful bridge between top level management as well as lower-level management, he must convey all the updates to the upper-level management to make them sure that things are moving in right directions.
  • Besides sourcing new buyers, he must have the ability to source out all raw materials both fabrics as well as accessories, in right prices as well as in right qualities, of course, with the budgeted cost structures. As a part of his regular duties, he must maintain good contacts with all required fabric as well accessories makers.

  • The applicants should have experience in the following area(s): Garments Industry, Garments Manufacturing, Garments Merchandising, and Marketing.
  • Competent in handling multiple accounts and variety of products in garments business.
  • Strong command over supply chain management.
  • Excellent Communication skills in both English and Bengali.
  • Competent in garment fabrics, yarn, trims and accessories.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships and good teamwork.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Responsible for effective Production planning and efficient implementation.
  • Must have at least 3-4 foreign buyers from his own connection.
  • Order status monitoring & regular schedule meeting with merchandising & marketing team for proper execution.
  • Ensure the accurate & optimal planning, while ensuring cost reduction & increased profitability.
  • Manage production planning staff and scheduling of raw material to meet production schedules.
  • Always be updated on production status whether it is meeting the production plan or not, if not then make a route cause analysis and give quick solution for a smooth operation.
  • Close relationship with operational teams to ensure on time delivery of products & optimal utilization of equipment & manpower.
  • Analyze and evaluation of production plans and present operational performances.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the management from time to time.
  • Monitoring overall activities of suppliers, commercial, shipping, quality checking of goods, etc. to ensure smooth production and shipment.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to management on ongoing activities and issues.
  • Conducting market research to identify customer needs, preferences, and trends, and using this information to develop marketing and merchandising plans that meet those needs.
  • Developing and managing the factory’s product portfolio, including selection, pricing, and promotion of products.
  • Coordinating with other departments, such as production and quality control, to ensure that products meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Analyzing sales data to identify trends and opportunities and making recommendations for improvements and changes to the marketing and merchandising strategy.
  • Closely monitor the activities of team members and evaluate their performance periodically.
