  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • English written & spoken are amendatory.
  • Fluent in English both written & email communication
  • Proven experience as a Sr. fabric technologist or relevant role
  • Thorough knowledge of methodologies of fabric technologist and standards
  • Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods

Head of Department – Fabric Sourcing & Technical

Responsibilities:

Fabric Sourcing Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement the overall fabric sourcing strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Identify and maintain relationships with key fabric suppliers and mills globally to ensure a competitive advantage.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and quality terms with suppliers to achieve cost-efficiency and timely delivery.
  • Monitor global market trends for fabric innovation, sustainability, and new technologies.

Supplier Management & Evaluation

  • Build and maintain a strong network of fabric suppliers, both local and international.
  • Conduct supplier evaluations based on quality, capacity, compliance, and ethical practices.
  • Establish long-term partnerships with reliable suppliers to ensure supply chain stability.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and sustainability goals.

Fabric Quality & Technical Requirements

  • Oversee technical evaluation of fabrics to ensure compliance with product standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the R&D and design teams to provide fabric options that meet style, functionality, and cost targets.
  • Implement testing protocols to ensure fabric performance (colorfastness, shrinkage, pilling, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot fabric-related issues during production and recommend solutions.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Support the design and merchandising teams in fabric selection during the product development phase.
  • Drive fabric innovation by sourcing new materials and technologies (e.g., sustainable fabrics, performance fabrics).
  • Ensure alignment between fabric specifications and product requirements for both bulk and sample production.

Cost Management & Budgeting

  • Manage the fabric sourcing budget to achieve cost-saving targets without compromising quality.
  • Optimize procurement processes to reduce wastage and manage inventory efficiently.
  • Monitor fluctuations in fabric prices and make recommendations to mitigate risks.

Sustainability & Compliance

  • Ensure the sourcing process aligns with sustainability goals, including the use of eco-friendly fabrics and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Promote the adoption of sustainable fabric innovations within the organization.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and manage the fabric sourcing team, ensuring clear communication of goals and expectations.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to the team on fabric trends, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Foster collaboration between sourcing, design, merchandising, and production teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Risk Management Identify and mitigate risks related to fabric sourcing, such as supply disruptions, quality issues, or regulatory changes.
  • Implement contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply in case of unexpected challenges.
  • Maintain a robust supplier database to diversify sourcing options and minimize dependency on a few vendors.
